Newbie from Edinburgh

Hi, joined last night and I am so pleased that there are people out there to talk to!and some in UK & Ireland.

Put on Prozac 3 months ago for depression which has really helped. Blood test done to check for PCOS but inconclusive so sent for scan - multiple cysts on both ovaries. Doctor didn't want to put me on anything until I have seen Gyne at Royal Infirmary so am now waiting for appointment.

Symptoms are: oily skin, spots, boil that keeps comming up in very personal area, put on 3 stone in 18 months, skin tags, dark patches on my face, bad mood swings, day 52 since my last period and still waiting. Since coming off pill in January the length of time between each period has got longer.

Hey, i'm originally from Edin. Nice to meet you!

Wishing you all the best in your endeavours with the PCOS I hope you get it sorted as soon as poss. I'm still getting up the courage to go to the Doctor and ask for metformin. My main problem is the weight and severe mood swings (highs and bad low's) due to the hormonal rollercoaster PCOS seems to induce!!

Welcome to Soulcysters. I'm glad you've found us, hopefully as you get more info you'll get on better with the Medics, I know I do!
I saw Dr Tay at the RIE, he was excellent and another cyster here saw him recently too and thought the same, so hopefully you'll get a refferal soon.

Hey anothey scots cyster, were growing slowly and fairly getting there. Im in Livingston not that far from you, your symptoms are very like my own. See you around the boards.

I live in edinburgh too (small world!)

I think the worst symptom of PCOS is the excessive hair. My GP recently put me on dianette, but I think this is only suppsed to stop it from getting any worse.

Anyway, i'll see you around the boards
