hi, my name is courtney and im new to this board and i really need some advice, help and a good outlook!
i am currently going through infertility treatment. i found out that i had a thyroid issue back last september and that i needed help getting pregnant. well fast forward and i was doing my first IVF in december. well i over stimulated and had 40 eggs! WOW
well out of those 40 eggs, 20 fertilized and 14 were frozen because i got ovarian hyperstimuation. i moved doctors in early january and found out that i have PCOS. my FSH level is 4.6, my LH is 12 and my testosterone is 74. i went to my RE to talk about PCOS and pregancy and was told some crazy things.... and now i am so scared!!
see, i am now going through frozen embryo tranfser, which is great because it doesnt really matter about the ovaries, its more about the lining and i am AOK on that! but my RE told me today if i have insulin resistance that my embryos might not be good and that i might have a 65-85% chance of miscarriage. my embroys are all grade 1, which is the best but he said that doesnt really matter if i have the insulin resistance. I AM FREAKING OUT!!! i get tested tomorrow for that. i am fasting tonight and just getting blood taken tomorrow morning. but i am so scared. i am thin and well within my range of weight. i am 5'4 and weigh 116. i dont have very much facial acne, i do however have problems with my periods and do have cysts on my ovaries. my RE said he doesnt think i have the insulin problem but wants to check but i am getting a weird feeling. maybe i am just freaking out because i learned all this today......
sorry this was so long but i am so nervous... any ideas, help??
First of all - don't freak out. It's all going to be ok. I am shocked to hear that your previous Dr never did a fully work up before moving on to IVF - that's a pretty major step.
Secondly, I don't really know the answer to your q's. You should cut and paste this post into the ttc board. There are many women with similar issues and a few experienced IVFers out there that can help you understand what's going on and maybe their experiences will encourage you!
It's an awful lot to absorb all in one day! I don't blame you for being scared. But, take it one day at a time. All your cysters will be there for you!
Good Luck!!!
Bailey

Try not to freak out, I know it's scary, I'm right there with ya.
It doesn't sound like you are insulin resistent. My doctor thought the same about me and I am not. Especially if you don't have a weight issue, thin people tend to not be insulin resistent. Of course don't rule it out but try to relax. Even if you are, taking Metformin will likely help. I am actually on Metformin, not for IR issues but to make me ovulate. So you probably aren't but even if you are, definitely ask about Met if your doctor doesn't suggest it first.
