So I just recently got diagnosed with PCOS and IR and put on metformin ER. Has anyone else had bad side effects from the metformin? I'm currently on 500mg every other day and will titrate up to 500mg a day in about two weeks, then will titrate to 2 doses of 500mg a day in another two weeks. I'm having fairly bad headaches and the endo said they would go away in time. I basically have had a continuous headache for almost two weeks since i started the metformin. Also, i haven't been hungry and pretty much become anorexic since i only eat about 1000 calories a day. I've lost much of my appetite and feel nauseous a lot of the time. Does anyone else have the same problem? Or, any suggestions to what to do? Maybe i just need to wait longer until these side effects go away. I should be seeing my neurologist soon, so maybe he can give me tips. Thanks for any advice.
I just started Met about a week ago 500mg a day for now, and I have'nt really had any side effects so I'm not much help there, but I just wanted to welcome You to SC. The Ladies Here are Very helpful

Thanks both for the welcome, I really appreciate it! I think i'm going to like it here. There's so much information and it seems that everyone is supportive of everyone else.
Sometimes if one makes you sick, you may have some relief going to the other. Like if plain makes you sick, then try XR. Or if XR makes you sick, go back to plain.
It helps to take it with food.
Hang in there!

I have been on Met for about 2 months with no side effects - you might find tips for dealing with them on the Metformin thread -
I found the Metformin Succedss Stories thread especially helpful! Good luck!
