Hey all I just joined cus I was just DX PCOS this monday. I guess I am really lucky cus I had a little girl in 2000 (took 8 months to get preg but didn't have to see a gyne). But after she was born was when my problems started... exessive hair (it ain't funny when I can grow a better beard then my stepfather), weight gain (100 lb in the last 6 years), IR (but that started when I was a teenager I think, just got bad recentaly), acne, skin tags (I thought they were moles lol), Depression & anxiety (MAJOR!!!!!), & my cholesteral is funny... dr didn't tell me the values yet cus I don't know if she realizes they are conected yet. My dr is my regular GP cus we don't have a specialist in my area & I don't think she knows alot about PCOS yet but she is a top notch gp & I'm sure we can muddle through this. She does have a endcroloigisy on tap for phone consoltations but I don't want to be flying down south all the time to see her (the specialist). I have started taking metformin 1500 mg daily & will be seeing my dr on the 29th to talk about more drugs... I am not sure I want to go on BCP cus everytime I have in the past it has triggered a major depression. So that is a bit about me I hope it wasn't too boring

I think its great your GP is trying to help you! I just wanted to offer a really good reference for you and your doctor... Medifocus Guide to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Feel free to check it out! If you have to, educate your doctor to get the help you need, and if they're a truly good doc, they'll be open to read, learn and help you!
Also, it might not be a bad idea to point your doc to this site! Check out the articles and all that jazz...

LOL I got the sig from another forum I'm in, Hubba is a grafics wiz!! & I saw the tickers in everyone elses sigs & thought it was I fab idea. Its a good reminder so I grabed one as soon as I could! the thing is I already lost weight but I'm not sure if its just my scale or what cus it said I lost 15 ld!! I'm gonna wait till I can check my drs scale before I ajust the ticker. the think I do still want is the currant mood things everyone has I have no idea how to get them...(hint hint)

Hello! I was just recently diagnosed and had to respond to your post because our stories are similar. I had my son in 2003, after gaining back the 100+ pounds that I had lost on the atkins diet. What a miracle now that I look back on it! I always new he was a miracle baby, (high risk pregnancy) but now! It took us 10 months to conceive. After I had him I got really bad ppd and lately I've been depressed and my mood swings are crazy! I believe I've had pcos since I was a teenager but after having a baby my hormones just went really crazy and the acne was horrible! Best wishes to you and I hope to see you around the boards!
