Default newbie here

Hey All,
My name is Amy!
I havent officially been diagnosed with anything yet, but the doctor said she's almost 90% sure that this is what I have, so i've been researching it, and it sounds like it makes an awful lot of sense to me!

I dont really remember how regular i was at a younger age with my periods, but i started on birth control in high school due to acne and just sort of the fact that my friends were on birth control! (weird. i know.)
Now, i've been married for almost 5 years, and last year decided that BC had just way too many side effects and issues for me such as depression, anxiety, IBS, inability to lose weight, etc - i married at 140lbs, and w/in 2 years was at 180... now at 200. and i'm 5'3. i carry all my weight around my belly.

Either way, I quit birth control last year at the beginning of june. since then, i've had two periods. my last one being in december. at first i just related it to the fact that my hormones are screwed up from BC and they'll regulate themselves in time. Then i was not getting my period at ALL. on top of which, i was eating like a rabbit, exercising like a gerbil, doing personal training sessions at the gym, and i was losing NO weight. in fact, i gained weight.

over the past few years i've gotten a couple of hairs on my chin that i constantly needed to pluck, but i didnt think it was all too abnormal. But then my upper lip got thick, so i got it waxed. the guy told me that it would be about 3-5 weeks before i'd need a new waxing. within the next week all that hair was back, lighter yes, but still back! i was like, whoa!

After hearing this, the only thing i can think of is... do i need to start trying to have children now if we're going to want to have children in the future!!?? We KNOW we want kids... but, is it going to be a lot harder if i wait until i'm 30 to have kids??? i'll do it now if thats the case (if i even can!)

anyway, I have an ultrasound tomorrow, and I started taking provera to induce my period which has been absent for 5 months, looking forward to cramps and heavy bleeding =\

So i guess that's my story! i can update more when i know more about my situation. This is great though, having a website totally dedicated to this!

thanks!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I also took birth control pills for years, which i believed just masked and delayed the symptoms of pcos. I'm glad you're finally getting the testing and treatment. You may want to see a reproductive endocrinologist to talk about your fertility options, and i'm sure you'll find lots of info and support here. Good luck to you!
