Unhappy Newbie here...desperate to stop symptoms

Hi, my name is Stacy. I was diagnosed in February of 2008. I'm taking 2000mg of metformin, and I started that at the same time. I just found this site today, and I am having a severe flare up of symptoms and was wondering if you guys had any advice. When I started taking the medicine I lost about 30 pounds which I have kept off. In early December my doctor had me go see a dietician, who put me on a diet of 1500 calories 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. I weigh 250. I would say that I have followed the diet over 90% of the time. In November I started high intensity exercise (crossfit) at least 3 times a week, and I've kept that up. I haven't lost a-single-pound. In addition all of my symptoms have gotten way worse. My hair has fallen out worse than it EVER has...I can't believe how far it has receeded...I have horrible acne, the facial hair is just ridiculous. Oh, and my hair is really oily too. I mean, these symptoms are worse than they were before I ever even sought out treatment. And for the first time I've been doing everything I'm supposed to do.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Should I go back to a higher protein diet? That's the only thing that worked for me in the past to lose weight. Do you think that it would help control my symptoms? The dietician was totally against high protein, saying that I would end up with diabetes, but this just isn't working.

I also want to have a baby, but I'm not TTC currently because I already know that I'm not ovulating. I have had two children previously...both times I happened to have lost a lot of weight on atkins coincidentally. I never realized that I wasn't ovulating normally...I thought I just was a person who was lucky enough to have 1 day periods. So I know that I can ovulate. I just have to lose weight to do it.

Thank you for any advice. I really appreciate it.

Stacy,

First of all, ! Secondly, I think you need to do what worked for you in the past as far as your weight loss is concerned. It's obvious that what the dietitian prescribed is not working. We're all here with the same concerns as you, at least I know I am!

Thank you Kristen, I agree. This definitely isn't working. It is soooooooooooooooo frustrating to work hard and have no results when I know that I've had success doing other things in the past.

And thank you Eva for the welcome and the link!
