Ok here I go............ I haven't been "offically diagnoised" yet but have been told my lab work is consistent with someone with PCOS. So here are my questions.
1.LH/FSH ratio.......... my levels were LH 10.8miu/ml (in normal range) FSH 6.6miu/ml (in normal range) so that makes my ratio 1.6:1 (LH/FSH). Isn't that to low to be PCOS? Every thing I read says 2:1 or greater.
2. My DHEA level was high. They only tested the unconjuagated DHEA not DHEAS my level was 1265ng/dl. The reference range was 13-980ng/dl. I have read that DHEAS is any where from 300 to 1000 to one times greater than DHEA that would make my levels 379.5mcg/dl to 1265mcg/dl. (micrograms instead of nanograms) Isn't this really high for PCOS? or could this possibly be an adrenal tumor?
3. My testosterone was consistent with PCOS my level 105ng/dl. The reference range 14-76ng/dl.
I am scheduled for a pelivc ultrasound next Tuesday. I have a son that just turned 2 last week. I didn't start having problems until I had him. Gained over 100lbs while pregnant and now can't seem to lose the weight. I had regular cycles up till 4 months ago when they stopped. In the last month my blood pressure has sky rocketed but is very unstable. Anywhere from 105/56 to 163/114. Pulse rate anywhere from 50-140 (resting rate). Headaches all the time. Acne from hell. I just think this is all really sudden and I am really confused. Any input would be greatley appreciated!!!!
My PCOS really got bad after the birth of my second son. I've heard of many cysters who got diagnosed after a big "hormonal" event like pregnancy/childbirth. I'm so sorry that you're feeling so bad, and I hope you feel better soon. :Hugs:
Pelvic ultrasound: I don't know how much info you're looking for here, so I apologize in advance if I give you way TMI. I had both external and internal done. The external was just like having one during pregnancy, I had to have a full bladder and they moved the wand around on my belly. Then they had me pee (good thing!) before the internal. I laid down with my feet in stirrups, like when you have a pap done. The tech asked me to put the wand inside (it was long and about the width of a tampon). Then he took it and moved it around inside me. I had a nice tech, he told me what he was seeing on the screen. It didn't really hurt, just felt a lot of pressure a couple times when he had to press on my belly while he moved the wand around inside. (He explained that my ovary was "hiding" behind my intestine and he was just maneuvering it around to get a good scan). It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be! I had the results the next day (my doc knows how nervous I get, so he called me as soon as the results came in-- otherwise I was supposed to go in for a follow-up about a week after the u/s) Hope this helps.
Best wishes for your test, let us know how it goes OK?
Hugs
Jenny
