Default Newbie Needing Help!!

Hi Cysters!!

I hope you are all well? I'm new to this site but unfortunately not new to PCOS having being diagnosed for almost 6yrs. Up until recently i have had no real problems that have affected my everyday life, other than being on the heavy side (which has been the case my whole life) and having absent periods (quite copeable when you and not bothered about starting a family). More recetly though the periods have gone from one extreme to the other. I am not on CONSTANTLY which is not good for my lovelife. It's not always there, i could be one one day and not the next or even on one hour and not the next. Some days it is so light i only need a panty liner and others i am flooding all over the place. GROSS....Sorry. Does anyone else suffer this problem. Also over the last couple of yrs i have been getting unwanted facial hair under my chin which is making me so so paranoid. I am constantly plucking and waxing this but it's not long before it's back again. I am getting married in 18 months and do not want to be worrying about my "beard" so was thinking of having laser hair removal. Has anyone had this done and has it made a permanent difference?

I have recently ben to the Dr's to discuss thse problems as i would like the periods to stop now as my H2B is surely becoming sexually frustrated!! but joking asside, once we are married i would like to consider starting family and i'm scared that we won't be able to. The Dr says lose weight but this is easier said than done. I have tried dieting on numerous occassions. My mos recent attempt, i was as strict as can be with myself, not allowing myself to indulge in the slightest and in 6 weeks i had lost a measley 2lbs. This is no reward for weeks of eating nothing i particularly enjoy so needless to say, i have fallen off the wagon again. Dr appreciates it is hard to loose weight and has said as a quick fix, i would considr going back on the pill to regulate my periods. This is all well and good but i don;t want to take the pill. Surely the whole reason i have th symptoms i do is cos my hormones are messed up so other than a regular period, i can't see what benefit it would have by me putting more hormones into my messed up body and tricming it into a regular cycle? Are i wrong in thinking this?

HELP!!!

I don't know how you would feel about NuvaRing? It would help alot with regulating your periods. I dont know if it would screw ur hormones up like other pills u've tried? Ask for a free sample at ur dr's and see what happens for a month?

Sorry you are going thru these frustrations, believe me- we all feel your pains. I've been overweight all my life and been yo-yo dieting all the time- it sucks! Ive had issues with my periods being light sometimes and being a bloodbath at some point too.

Hang in there!

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for your replies so far. I have been on metformin yrs ago when i was in my last yrs at school and it really did not agree with me. I was sick and passing out alot so came off that. Have been on many different pills but don;t like taking them. Some give me MORE spots, some make me gain MORE weight some make me start flooding on red week, nothing seems to agree. The last one i was on was the better of them all, Yasmin as i did not see any side effects of this one but simply stopped taking it as i don;t like taking pills.

I know a girl (well a fiend of a friend) who has PCOS and does have many obvious symptons. She is fairly slim and no obvious excess hair growth and her GP has referred her i assume to a gyni and she has recently had her ovaries lasered to remove the cysts. Has anyone heard of this or had it done? Why is it offered for some ad not others?

Oh i have so many questions i just can't think of them all but will keep popping them up here why they come to me.

Thanks
Leanne
