Hi everyone. I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago, but always knew there was something wrong b/c I did not have a period until I was 19, and that was brought on by Provera and Premarin. Since then, I was on birth control pills until about 2.5 years ago when my husband and I started TTC... I stopped having periods.. Tried several rounds of Provera, no period.....My gyno put me on 100 mg of Clomid and no success. I got referred to a fertility specialist, who put me on 150 mg and I also had no response at all from that. My body just will NOT ovulate.
This week, I started on injections of Follistim, and go for another internal ultrasound tomorrow to see if I am having any luck.
I am really glad I found this forum, and hope to learn a lot!
I am actually seeing a Nurse Practitioner that specializes in PCOS. She is out of this world. Kelly Brewster at the Center for Women's Health. I have had such as good experience.
I had seen four OBGYN's over the course of four years and no one would talk to me about PCOS - finally, i had a friend that was diagnosed and she recommended this clinic on the North Shore. I am finally being treated - I have been on the IR diet for ten days and already dropped five lbs.
I would love to get a group together to help one another through this new dx. I am 28 as well and live in Metairie. Is there any interest?
Good Luck with the injections. I haven't gotten that far yet. I have done one round of Provera and Clomid. I have been having my af since mid june, so I'm going to have to call my Dr...
the IR diet - is a diet for those of us that are insulin resistant. it's a book i SWEAR by "The Insulin-Resistance Diet" by Dr. Hart and Mary Kay Grossman.
