Newbie PCOS Lady & Type 1 Diabetes I'm personally not a newbie anymore but my friend just might be. She's being tested for PCOS (which looks quite likely) at the moment after presenting with several of the normal symptoms. The complicating element is that she has Type 1 Diabetes. Obviously this means that BCP, eg Dianette or Yasmin is contra-indicated and that her diet has to be very balanced.
Would metformin/glucophage be appropriate for her (not sure on IR status)? What anti-androgen treatments are available that aren't combined with a BCP? Are there any Type 1 diabetic cysters who might be able to give some advice?
I posted this on the newbie section last week but no-one responded so I thought I'd stick it here with my British & Irish Cysters. I've tried doing a search for PCOS with Type 1 diabetes, just throws up 20 zillion hits on PCOS and Type 2 (of course!).
Thank you in advance.
Jules
