Default Newbie qu -- herbal or medical remedies better?

Hi all! I'm new here, and I'm looking at all my options for treating PCOS. My gyno has suggested BCPs and metformin (although I'm not IR -- in fact, I have been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia, and I'm nervous about Metformin bringing my blood sugar down too low). My blood tests also showed I'm wayyy deficient in Vitamin D, so my GP put me on that. I have read that Vitamin D may help with PCOS, but I don't know how, and I don't know about other natural remedies.

My main concerns are restoring the hormone balance and reducing unwanted hair growth. Also, I don't want something that could have a lot of side effects. In your opnions, what has helped you the most? Thank you SO MUCH for any help you can give me! I feel so lost with all this new info!

I am a newbie too. Mostly lurking around trying to gather information myself. I've done alot of research and I see just as many pros and cons for either road. I guess you have to try to find the right combination that works for you.

I agree with Tamilynn. You have to find the right combo for you. Me, personally, all the prescribed medication did for me was make me worse!! I am a true spokesperson for the natural route!! On the other hand I have seen many people go with the prescriptions and be absolutely fine. So, it just depends on your body. Best of luck on your journey.
