Question Newbie and a Question

Hello,
My name is Bethany. I am 26 and was diagnosed with PCOS in January of this year.
I've been reading all the information on the forums (it could take me months to get through it all. ) I have a question. I was diagnosed with PCOS through an ultrasound. There was no blood test or anything like that... Is that normal?

Bethany,
I was diagnosed with one blood test, to rule out hypothyroidism, and an ultrasound. I would suggest talking to your doctor to see about getting some bloodwork done, to check your hormone levels and such. You definitely want to rule out hypothyroidism since it can resemble PCOS sometimes.

HTH.

I did have a test for hypothyroidism through a different place and that was negative. (totally forgot about that until you mentioned that splashsmama) They referred me to my current doctor. I do think I am going to make an appointment with my current doctor for sometime this month and ask about things like insulin resistance and that sort of thing. I am taking the pill, but I have serious cravings for sweets and nearly every night I wake up between 1 or 4 to eat something. (always sweets).
I just feel like if my problem is partially insulin resistance or diabetes or something like that then I would really like to work on treating it instead of ignoring it.
I think I am do for an appointment anyway because I am pretty sure I don't have any refills left on the pill.
