Thank you so much for the info. I've been recently diagosed with PCOS by my gyn and I'm a little frustrated right now with my Doctor because everything that I know about PCOS I've learned it here. I'm trying to be patient with him but it's hard. I've decided to get a second opinion. Thanks again for all the info.
Well.. I think it's more than Dr.'s are stupid or they don't know enough like other dr. do. I went to 7 different dr. and in the mean time I was diagnosed and undiagnosed and had surgery for endo, that was normal, I have been to 27 dr. in the last 6 months. My dr. I am at now .. at least seems to care more than any of the others I have seen. ( I don't have insurance so I am around 20,000) and he doesn't think I have it because my blood work came back with low hormones and they give me hormones and I don't have a withdrawl bleed. He just put me on metformin.. and the side affects are catastrophic! But I gotta do it. You can email me and we can chat more. doesn't hurt to get a second opinon or 27. lol Point is.. stick with what you feel like. If you think it is.. then continue pushing the issue. If you don't think you have pcos.. then push that too.

Unfortunately I'm new here so I have limited capabilities but I would love to chat. I was recently given a RX for Met but I won't start it until I have my diabetes test next week. I've decided to find an Endo. maybe I can get more answers there. Umm out of your 27 lol doctors who would you say gave you the most useful info. the gyn/endo?
Neither. lol.. you would think they would. Especially the endo. I was at the endo and he just wanted to keep increasing my BC. No one has really still told me if I have PCOS or not they just don't know what else it could be. I also went through some fainting spells and they made me go see heart dr's. ( came back normal). My endo wasn't listening. I was very frusterated. He just thought he would do what he wanted, he would never ask my opinion and finally I got rather upset one day when I told him about new symptoms and he told me just like this " you know your fat and you need to loose weight". I think the word fat could have been altered, I told him I have been running and change my diet and nothing. He said don't like to me or I won't treat you. So I decided this was my last straw with him. So I ended up going to see another gyno and I got emotional in her office. ( I of course have severe pain, which is unusual for pcos) or so i'm told. so she said this has gone on long enough, we are going to do a lap for endometriosis. So I did that the surgion she referred me to is good.. he's actually just a gyno part of the week and does lap the rest the week. So It's really luck of the draw and finding someone your comfortable with and who listens. Trust me feeling understood for me.. has made a big difference. If I can trust my Dr. I feel okay about asking questions and understanding what is happening.
I get severe migrains. I was thinking it had to do with my hormones and so I thought I would ask of that was a symptom of Pcos as well. He was kind enought to expain to me to make sure I drink lots of water! Lots and lots and lots! I am still struggling with that since i'm not much of a water person. He said that the fluid in your spinal cord changes which causes headaches. I thought the article or link about " what other symptoms do you have"? ( somewhere in the road map was really interesting. The gyno I went to this last time is in a clinic just attatched to the hospital, they are a littler busier but they have 5 or 6 gyno's in the building. That way I didn't have to worry about moving my records and things if I didn't feel comfortable with one again. I felt like well if 5 or 6 are around each other all day maybe they talk more or they see something more and are more knowledgeable. This surgion was in that building along with her so do what feels right. I am really not liking this metformin though. I feel so dehydrated and i'm drinking water all day I carry the bottle with me. I am tired and sick to my stomach. My headaches are worse. I feel like my joints are so stiff.

Hello, This is my first post ... not sure how to access the other forums without having more posts ... can anyone help me out?
Thanks for all the info ... there's lots to learn!

OMG I'm on my 7th day of met and I am so sick right now. It seems like after 7pm my body just shuts down. I'm tired and I feel sick to my stomach. It's very hard taking that last pill in the evening knowing that it's going to take me down. My doctor has me on 1500mg. I hope this feeling goes away soon. This is not cool.
So I called my pharmacy to ask them about this.. because I was having all the same things and she told me to take it once in the morning and slowly work myself up to 1500 over a course of time. Usually after your body to adjusts to the small amount then your okay. I'm still really thirsty though. I however hate to and don't remember to take things in the morning. So I have been taking it just before bed and i'm feeling great. so i'm just working on increasing my dose now.
