I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself, since I've been lurking for a while and was finally diagnosed on Monday.
Hubby and I have been together for 7 years now, and happily married for 2.5 years. We've been TTC for a year with the help of my ob/gyn.
We completed 4 cycles of Clomid with no luck (other than the Clomid making me crazy). All our tests, SA, HSG, all have come back good so here we are.
I have suspected PCOS for a while now, I've had all the typical symptoms; chin hair (), weight gain over the past couple years I can't get rid of, thinning hair (thank god I have really thick hair to start), super irregular periods. My ob always seemed to brush me off when I mentioned this.
Well after I had my HSG in August it triggered something with my insurance company and they called to let me know if I was undergoing fertility treatment I had to go to one of their approved centers. So it was off to the Fertility Clinic for me.
I was fearful they wouldn't treat me since I do need to lose about 75 lbs, which I haven't been able to do not matter what I try for the past couple of years. Luckily I found a wonderful doc who diagnosed my PCOS and started me on Met yesterday. I am on 500mg this week, and stepping up weekly to 1500mg.
Once I get everything under control with my hormones, we are going to consider other fertility treatments if the Met alone doesn't work. I can't bring myself to do Clomid again since the se for me were soooo very awful.

Yeah I live on the Northwest side, near Park Ridge, Edison Park that area! Where are you? I grew up in Barrington out in the burbs and my family all lives out in the burbs too.
