Hello my name is Holly Lynn and I live in Denver, Colorado. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 years ago and I still don't know much about it. I tried metformin and it made me very ill,so I've never tried anything else. I also have hypothyroidism , I take 200 of Levoxyl and I was recently (8/05) diagnosed with adults stills disease. I was ill with that for more than 7 months before anyone figured out what was wrong. I am overweight but because of being ill and changing my diet in the last 8 months lost more than 112 pounds. The weird thing is that my period has disappeared , it had been regular for the last 5 months (5/25). My period is now 101 days late.
I contacted my doctor about this and she doesn't seem to think anything of me missing my period for so long. I asked her for provera and she said that it is just to see if your body can have a period not for use when you don't get a period...Now I love this doctor but I think she is entirely wrong on this point. My husband and I had been ttc before I got sick but now we'd like to start actively ttc again ..and I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't know much about the fertility or infertility side of PCOS.
So I found this site and I am hoping to find some nice ladies to share information with , to learn more about pcos and for support.
Hi Lyn, I take Provera each month to get my period. I don't have my period without it and since DH and I are TTC, BCP's really aren't an option! So, I am an example of when a dr. has prescribed Provera to bring on AF...not just to see if I can get one.
I have heard that sudden weight loss or gain can sometimes lead to a missed period. However, letting you go for 101 days seems like a bit long to be waiting to see if your body will kick back into gear. I would give your dr. another call and ask how long you need to wait for your period before doing something...and also tell them that you are wanting to start ttc again. That might kick them into gear!
Good luck with TTC!

That is smart to see a new doctor who will hopefully be able to help you.
