hello, my name is Vickie. i'm 28 years old, married and a mother of 1 beautiful daughter. i was diagnosed a few years ago with PCOS and the only thing i was told about it was that my chances of getting pregnant were slim to none. So with that being said, my husband and i (finance at that time) decided to come off of birth control and whatever happened happened. well 6 months later i was pregnant. after having the baby, i went back on birth control. recently i've come off of the birth control again to try to get pregnant again. i haven't gotten my period for almost 3 months now, so the doctor ran some tests and has informed me that the PCOS is still there. So i've started to do some of my own research into it to get a better understanding of this. I'm finally starting to get some answers to questions. things are finally starting to make sense as to why they are happening to me. 10 years ago i was told by a doctor that the hair growth on my chin & neck was just my hormones getting adjusted and not to worry about it, so i didn't, but here i am 10 years down the road and still plucking dark, coarse hair from my chin and neck. there's other symptons that are starting to fall into place the more information i find. i decided to join this site in hopes of finding someone or many someones for support and just somebody to talk to about this, who's gone through it or is going through it like i am. i could probably write a book about my life and everything going on with my body now with regards to PCOS, but i'll save everyone some time by not going into it all right now. but any comments/support will be greatly appreciated.

PS-does anyone know where/how i can get some PCOS awareness pins for free?

Nice to meet you. Like you, I am new to this site but was diagnosed years ago (I was 19) and told basically nothing other than, make sure to take BCP so you have a period and it'll be tough to get pregnant, if at all. (Uh, gee thanks!) Not really concerned with children at that time, I pretty much did what the dr said. I was pleasantly surprised with a pregnancy in 95 but miscarried 3 months later. I am now married to a wonderful man and we would both very much like to have a child.

It's great to have this resource here and others. Now so many things seem to make sense. And, it's nice to know there's the support of so many others out there.
