My Mood: Points: 225.58 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 225.58 | Newbie !! and so pleased to find a decent PCOS site !! Morning peeps
Finally... a site that caters primarily for PCOS (after having some pretty bad experiences of TTC forums over the past year, so hoping this is a lovely and friendly forum !)..
I have been TTC since September 2006 with no success whatsoever and only got diagnosed with PCOS last November 07. After tons of blood tests, ultrasounds and vaginal probes my left ovary was found to have several cysts on it and one unfortunately has tripled in size so am having a laparoscopic cystectomy (removal of cyst - and hopefully not the ovary, tube dying and a biopsy) on the 12th June 2008 and tbh am totally sh*tting myself as am so scared that I may also be diagnosed with endometriosis (given that I have been bleeding after s*x for the past 10 years and no doctor has taken me seriously, I dont have any STD's as have been tested four times now !!) so am really scared. It would be lovely to hear from any others that have undertaken any laparascopic procedures. I have also been told that after the op I will be put on an ovulation stimulant (Not clomid, something else) and xenical for my weight (although have managed to shift a stone and a half since 31.3.08 yaay)..
Anyhow enough of my ranting.. I look forward to speaking with some of you soon - any advice would be greatly appreciated

Congrats on losing some weight. Sometimes that helps more then the meds they give us. As for the procedures, I have never had any done, so I can not be of any help there. But I wanted to say welcome and wish you the best of luck.

My Mood: Points: 225.58 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 225.58 | Hi guys,
thanks for your warm welcomes and information
I only found out about my PCOS because I pushed and pushed for it and also stressed that at 32 years old and trying for a baby that something needed to be done and quickly !! but it seems to have paid off. Am still coming to terms with having PCOS but have bought some amazing books and where losing weight is really tough I am determined to prove my consultant gyne wrong in that I can lose weight - its just slower than it would be if I didnt have PCOS so to any girlies out there who suffer the weight gain and trying to lose, you CAN do it... its tough but if you really try it does work - I have already noticed my skin is clearing a bit, especially on my back - although I highly recommend tea tree oil face masks, they rock and they stop my skin outbursts (well they have done over the past three months) !!
Am also using Agnus Castus (would highly recommend) as it has given me more regular periods - I used to only have about 2 periods a year and now am getting them every 34-40 days !! so again would highly recommend these herbal supplements and they are quite cheap too !!

Yes Angus Castus (Vitex) is a great herbal supplement. I used to take it religiously, until it stopped working for me. I am planning on adding it back in some time this summer.
Tea tree oil masks are great, I use the oil itself for many different things. I love the stuff.

My Mood: Points: 225.58 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 225.58 | As I see it PCOS is a pain in the backside but it certainly won't stop me from being positive - its just a glitch !! I have to stay positive otherwise I will go nuts !
When I found out I had PCOS last year I was really p*ssed, p*ssed at myself thinking that I was to blame - especially when everyone around me was falling pregnant and telling me to lose weight as I too would fall pregnant, even the smug gynecologist told me in rather brutal terms that I was too fat to conceive (now at 13 stones/84.5 kilos) I thought that she was a little bit out of order as I know many many women who are far heavier than me who have conceived many children, so I was not impressed but after I left the hospital I vowed to NEVER let PCOS get the better of me and to carry on living life as normal until my operation date in June 08
Thanks to everyone who has replied to my post
