Default Newbie - Strange Cycles on Met

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this... was officially diagnosed with PCOS five months ago and at the same time stopped taking BCP. Have been ttc ever since. I have been taking 1000 mg of Met for the past three months with hardly any side effects and have had 35 day cycles since being off BCP so my doctor was pleased that Met seemed to be working (she recently increased my dose to 1500 mg daily). Currently, it has been 50 days since my last period and blood test confirmed that I am not pregnant.

Has anyone else had this experience with Met - where your periods started out regular but then became irregular? Also, this may sound like the dumbest question, but how do I know if I am ovulating? I have heard ovulation predictor kits don't work for women with PCOS b/c of the elevated LH hormone. Any thoughts would be appreciated...I am getting so frustrated!!!

Hi there. I only get cycles and O when I'm on 2,000mg Met, but longer cycles around 38days. Not on met I am completely anovulatory. That dosage does cause me some occasional side effects, but while TTC it is worth it. I dropped my dose down to 1500mg for 2 months and I never O'd. 1 week after I upped my dose back to 2000mg I O'd.
As for ovulation. are you ttc? if so, get to know your fertility signs and start charting with fertilityfriend.com. I take my temp every am, I don't chart the temps until I have confirmation of O - which is a high temp around 98F.
