Default Newbie and Totally Confused

Hi Everyone!

I was just diagnosed with PCOS on Monday after 3 long years of thinking I was absolutely nuts. I have been to 6 different doctors and each one told me that nothing was wrong with me. I finally found an endo that listened to me and diagnosed me with PCOS. She also gave me a script for Metformin while I wait for all my test results.

Here's where the confusion part comes in...Over the past 3 years, I have gained more than 50 pounds. I was eating anywhere between 1000-1500 calories a day, working out 2hrs/day, 5 days/week (sometimes 6) and continually gaining weight. All the doctors that I went to took a ton of tests and told me I wasn't diabetic, insulin resistant, etc. I haven't started the metformin yet, but since I'm not insulin resistant, I'm wondering if it's the right treatment for me? If it's not, then how do I stop the weight gain and start losing weight? I'm totally and completely at my wit's end. I've gone from being a very healthy and out going person to being a very overweight and introverted person. The worst part of all is that there is no end in sight to the weight gain and I have absolutely no clue how to stop it! If I'm just going to keep gaining weight no matter what I do, someone just needs to shoot me now.

Hi,
Just to say I totally understand the weight gain thing, I was piling on lbs for no reason, i.e. eating very little which was half my problem.
I started going to dietitien and the weight is coming off REALLY SLOW but its going in the right direction. A dietiten in my opinion would be a good idea, as they will do up a realistic mealplan that is tailored especially for you. Everything is taken into account, the obvious thing is height, build etc but also age, whether you have had children, if you can exercise or not. Everyone is different, in what works for them eventhough we all have pcos here. My dietiten has given me a realistic goal, and is very professional, so good luck if you choose the dietiten route.
Hope I have helped in some way.
