I was just diagnosed with PCOS today. After seeing the ultrasound on Friday, I knew it was coming. All this on top of hypothyroid and PMDD!
I am starting Yaz today to help with the PMDD and PCOS - hopefully I'll have better results than some of you. I never tolerated the Pill well in the past, but I am optimistic.
I am an oligoovulator, so coincidentally started my period today with severe cramps - what a day!
I started reading the boards here over the weekend and just wanted to introduce myself and say hey to everyone. You all sound like a supportive bunch.
I forgot to add that I also have rosacea, which seems to be another thing that commonly afflicts us ladies with multiple ailments. Fortunately, its 90% under control with Finacea. There is no generic, but $50/month is worth it for at least one thing to go right with me!
That is a lot to take in, I am very sorry about what you are going through. What does oligoovulator mean? What birth control pills did you take in the past? The only pill that made me sick what Ortho Tri-Cyclin. Yaz has not made me sick, but i take it at night. I do know that Yaz has made me weapy. But, my first cycle with Yaz and only 1 week on Metformin and I got my period on the non active pills. Yay! Take Yaz at night if you a worried about getting sick.
Keep in touch. I hope you get better soon.
Hugs

Oligoovulation means I ovulate sometimes, irregularly. Anovulation means not at all.
Nausea with the Pill is a certainty for me in the first month or so. I am prepared for that. The main issue I had before is that I had PMDD all month long. Instead of feeling the light happy feelings I sometimes get with a real period, I always felt tired, depressed and crabby. I was on Orthonovum 7/7/7 for most of the time. I was bumped up to Necon 1/50 7 years ago to treat a painful cyst (1"), 30 pounds later I went back to 7/7/7 because the side effects were just too much to handle. They switched me to Alesse, which helped with the symptoms some, but not enough for me to stay on the Pill. After 5 years I wanted to see if my symptoms improved without it. Well, I had the issues less of the time, but ended up with irregular periods. After going 6 months without, I was finally diagnosed hypothyroid - with a TSH at 123 and a goiter at the time.
Now 4 years later, after seeing a very odd endo gyno and a rude regular endo, it was my new internal doctor that was willing to listen to all my symptoms and try to figure out what was really wrong with me. I had told them all the same symptoms, including my cyst history, but no one even mentioned PCOS until now. I am thankful for the PCOS diagnosis, cause at least I know its not all in my head and there are ways to deal with this. I was getting really tired of the "you should just exercise more" line.
