Hi! I'm new to the PCOS world...I was told that I had PCOS when I was going through fertility treatments to try and get pregnant. We just decided to do IVF as our next route and ultimately got pregnant with twins who are now 16 months old. Fast forward to 2 months ago at a regular dr appointment when I mentioned the fact that I had PCOS to a new dr...she put me on metformin and I started at 500mg and am now up to 1000mgs/day. My questions are: Is this the usual dosage? I see many people taking around 1500mgs or 2000mgs. Aside from the yucky stomach issues at the beginning I haven't had any side effects and see people on here talking about loosing weight and a decreased appetite. I have had neither! In fact it seems like I have an increased appetite and around my period this month I could not eat enough...it was awful! Do I need to ask to have my dosage upped again to see these affects?

I just posted the same question under a different post! I feel the same way. I was so hungry around my last period! I am a big girl so I wondered if I should have a higher dosage. I had almost no s/e going up to 1500mg of Met. Hmmm???
Congrats on the twins. I did not have to do IVF. I could get pregnant but miscarried 4 times. I am so thankful that I now have 2 healthy kids.
I hope there is someone out there that can help us!
