A few days ago I got a call from my OB/GYN telling me that I have PCOS. I was somewhat relieved and somewhat angry when I heard the news. It's like my body continues to play tricks on me. But I am glad to know why it's playing tricks and that there's help on the way. One of my friends was dx months ago and she referred me to this site. I am so glad that she did and glad to know that there are a lot of ladies just like me. I am single and hope to have kids in the future, so I'm praying that the tx will work. I just started taking metformin a few days ago, so what should I expect in the first 90 days?

Like MLA06 said, Met is different for everyone. I saw a noticable difference after a month or so - not great yet, but noticeable!! The Met board is a great help - be sure to check out the Met success stories!

Hi prncssrea! I'm just about to finish my first 90 days of Metformin, and it hasn't been too bad. The first couple days were the worst because it really messed with my GI tract, but thankfully that stopped after about day three. The biggest issue with Met that I've had is that I have absolutely no appetite with it, which has caused me to lose about 12 pounds. I'm 5'8" and weigh 122 now, so I'm hoping that I haven't lost too much weight. (I don't need a whole new set of problems with low body weight interfering with the pre-existing ovary issues!) Other than the appetite loss, it really hasn't been too bad, so I've been lucky. Hopefully it won't affect you much either.
