Default Hi

Hi there,
First time poster here...just wanted to drop in to say hi, and to ask for some advice. I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS, though I suspected that I had it a long time ago. My family Dr. has referred me to Dr. Terry O'Grady. I have not heard anything back about an appointment time, so I just called her office and her secretary was telling me that she never had the appointment booked yet, but I was defenitely going to have to wait until October at the earliest. So right now I'm kind of freaking out, lol. I guess I'm looking for anyone who has experience with Dr. O'Grady...is this a normal thing, to wait so long for her? And, is the wait worth it, is she very helpful? We are TTC #1, and am hoping to meet with a Dr who will take this seriously, and prescribe the medication that I need to regulate my cycles so we can have a baby. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Bond Girl,
welcome to the site. I am fairly new to this site also, but it helps to talk to others who understand exactly what you are going through. Good luck, maybe
Dr. O'Grady will have a cancellation and you can get to see her at an earlier time. This pcos is really crappy!! Unfortunately we have to live with it.
I am wondering has anyone heard from Tracy, and how she is doing?

Smile No baby yet...

Welcome aboard Bond Girl!
Ask anything we're all/have gone through the same PCOS sh*t!

How's everyone doing?

BTW, no baby yet.. due date this Sat - May 17. I think I must be going crazy, since I have all this enegry and I can't seem to rest (which your suppose to). Even b4 baby I couldn't sit on my ass all day or rest. I think if I was ordered to bed rest by the Dr, they would have to strap me in the bed.
Example, this am - got up w/ DH and got hime off to work, did the dishes, went for a 45 min walk, mowed the backyard (yes mowed the backyard at
39 wks pg - I told you I was crazy) and it's only 9:30 in the morning!

Been off work for the last wk and an 1/2.

Hope all is well..
Janet

Thanks everyone for the welcome messages and advice

Well, a little bit more about me I guess. I'm 29, living in St. John's where I have been born and raised. I have recently been diagnosed (in March) with PCOS. The reason they diagnosed it was because the LH and FSH ratio was so out of whack, LH way higher than FSH. But, the ultra sound showed no cysts, but apparently that is not a requirement as cysts can come and go I have read. So that's what brings me here. Me and the hubby have been TTC since we got married last July, but no luck. My problem is my cycles. Right now, I haven't had a peiod since February, but so far all HPT's are negative. GRRRRR!!! lol. I really want to have my cycles regulated, but I guess I will have to wait until I get to see Dr. O'Grady to be prescribed any medication because my family Dr said she does not know enough about it to prescribe anything. I was thinking of taking Vitex, as I have read that regulates cycles...anyone here have any experience with that? Sometimes it is so hard because I want to have a baby, like, yesterday, but I know I must be patient as this can be a long process. I guess anything worth having is worth waiting for, and a baby is certainly worth it

Ok well thanks again everyone, and talk to you all later

Hi Bond Girl,
I never heard of vitex, but I take chromiun , which is supoosed to help with insulin and your metabolism, I also take an omega 3 supplement which is supposed to be really good for you. Just thought I would add my opinion

Default Never Give Up Hope - Warning Long Post

Honey Child & Kim - NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!! (see my sig). Dh and I did a lot when we were TTC.. pretty much everything other then IVF (we just didn't/don't have 10G to pay for IVF).

On my last visit to the clinic, I got pissed off (and told the Dr off-which is not like me) w/ the Dr and I didn't want to feel like a guinea pig anymore!! I was tried of being pumped w/ meds and the medical staff poking at me. We hated to have "schedlued" sex.. I hope you know what I mean.

DH booked us a holiday out to Alberta & BC where we had family... he said he did't know where the $$ is going to come from, but both of us are going to have a nervous breakdown. So a mth later we flew away for 2 wks. Although my peroids were never regular, I begin to learn the signs that I ovualted, and I thought that I ovulated before we left for our holiday.

So I figured that I would be having a peroid in Alberta (****ty I know, have a peroid on your holiday.. but oh well. Having PCOS, and little peroids, I didn't really care having a peroid on my holiday). While in Alberta, my peroid didn't come. I knew I was under a lot of stress, so I figured that's the reason no peroid. Well, I picked up a pg test one day shopping in Calgary, did the test (just to rule out pg) the next day and it was POSTIVE!!

I told DH and he came running in and read the instrutions & asked me did I pee the right way? How else can one pee. So I called my clinic here in Ontario and they advised me to take it easy, until I could get back and get checked out. Upon on our arrival back here, we ended to the clinic and did blood work. Sure enough we were pg!

The Dr's/Nurses at the clinic couldn't/can't explain, Dh and I becoming pg (without the clinics assists)! We proved the medical field WRONG! They always told us, that 'cause of my PCOS, we would NEVER become pg on our own and we would need to pay the BIG BUCKS to get pg (and it was never a guarennte).

Well we NEVER GAVE UP!! Somehow deep down, we knew we would be parents. Fast forword to today.. our due date is THIS Sat May 17.

I know it's hard, hearing ladies becoming pg, esp those ladies who become pg on a "opps!" or the couple just started TTC and become pg. But listen , hang in there!!! If I can help, pls let me know. I'm been there (3 clinics and 2 surgeries later), got the t-shirt and have had all the emotions that come with TTC.

*Baby Dust* to you!
Janet
