My name's Sai. I never knew there was such a PCOS community out there! I have to say I'm realy glad to have come across this site, as my friends haven't really understood my problems and it'd be nice to converse with some people who know what I'm talking about! i was diagnosed 3 years ago having had an ongoing saga of no periods, and then ones that lasted aaaages, and all the trimmings - cramps, hair, weight gain, acne, the lot. Looking back I can't believe i wasn't diagnosed sooner, it sounds so obvious when i say it now. anyway, i'm trying my best to handle my symptoms and lose weight although it's easier said than done. I'd love to hear any tips and tricks people have to share, and of any organisations there are out there to help people like me. i've felt for a long time that my condition is something to be ashamed of, but i'm beginning to understand that it isn't my fault or something i have control over, so maybe i just need to make it ok for me, not everyone else...
rant over! Hope you all know where i'm coming from...Sai xx

Welcome Sai! So what current treatment are you on? Some of the ladies here you'll notice use various things, diets, birth control, metformin (a diabetic drug) etc etc. Everyone is different and different things work for different people I suppose. I can however highly reccomend the low GI diet, if not for pcos symptoms at the very least for keeping weight stable. Oddly, I GAINED weight on that diet but then, I was a little too thin. I haven't gained any since reaching my optimum weight for height so yeah.. It's a very healthy diet that doesn't really demand you cut too much out, it's moderation and much much easier than an actual diet as such.
Anyway, i'm rambling.. I do that. Welcome again and I hope you find the answers you're looking for. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even really dumb ones, someone is bound to have had a similar experience.
