Just been diagnosed as hypothyroid as well as polycystic, and my blood test results have come back as T4 7.6, TSH 13.01. My doctor has put me on to 50mg of levothyroxine, which I understand is the smallest dose you can start on.

Can anyone offer advice as to what these levels actually mean??? Am I a severe case, or borderline?

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before, but I'm new to all this and just a bit scared....

The smallest dose you can start on is actually 12.5mcg, half of a 25mcg pill.

But anyway. 50mcg is not a bad place to start. You'll likely need to be raised up, but your doc is not amiss in trying to wean you up to full dose.
