Newly diagnosed-finally... Hello there,
I just found out yesterday that I have PCOS, after many years of thinking that I had late onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia. I was diagnosed when I was 19, was told that I didn't need medication to maintain it, and that was that. As I got in to my mid-20's, I wanted to find answers, and I had to wait 11 months to see the "best" endocronologist in our area. When I saw her for the first time, her first words to me were, "I don't like you have LOCAH. I don't think that at all." After a series of tests, a diagnosis of low b12 and insulin resistance, I got my "final" diagnosis yesterday of PCOS.
I am 28 (29 next month), about 30lbs overweight, have been struggling with facial hair since I was a teen, but I've been getting fairly regular periods. My husband and I want to start TTC this summer, and I am frightened. We have an appointment with my ob/gyn today, and I feel shocked and scared by the PCOS diagnosis. My endo put me on a low dose of dexamethasone, because I just stopped using the NuvaRing in order to prepare for TTC.
It is good to know that I am not alone. |
