Newly diagnosed hypo...

I just had my second appt with my RE and she said my thyroid was "really out of whack" (7.8 TSH). She started me on 50mcg Synthroid and said we'd check my levels in a month to see if it is working. I am supposed to start Clomid in about 7 to 10 days and am wondering if this is enough time for the meds to start working. She said that I could just take the synthroid and see if that lets us become pregnant. But since we are amilitay family and my hubby will be leaving in a few months I opted to take the clomid as well ASAP. Anyone out there ever been in my situation and managed to become pregnant in the first few cyccles with having just started thyroid meds?

I started synthroid in May of this year when it was discovered that my TSH was at 26. I was put on the same dose you were (50mcg). 6 weeks later I went to get my throid levels tested and my TSH was at 10 so they upped my dose to 75 mcg. A week after that I started my period a few days late but still had to have a pregnancy test to do an HSG and discovered I had a chemical pregnancy. So I managed to get pregnant right after starting, but didn't stay pregnant and I think it ws because my levels weren't in the right range. You're levels weren't nearly out of wack as mine were so I don't think it will take as long to get it in the right range. If it was me I'de go for the Clomid as well though because it ups your chances of getting pregnant and i'm just not a very patient person after TTC for over a year.
