Hi,
I'm new to site and I was just diagnosed with PCOS and was wondering if there are any other options to treat it then just Birth Control? I have tried to take 6 different types of Birth Control and everyone made me sick to my stomach and very moody. My Dr. said some people are just really sensitive to it but I had to take it to regulate my cycle and help with acne and everything else or just let it stay the same. So does anyone know alternatives to birth control pills? And also I was wondering if extreme abdominal pain when using the bathroom has anything to do with PCOS? Thank you so much.
Welcome! I've also wondered about BCPs. Before my husbands Vesectomy, my doc put me through many because I also had very bad reactions to them. I've been thinking for the past few days what he will do or put me on at my two week post-op appt. Keep me posted on what your doc decides if you don't mind since I have the same issues taking BCPs.
I take metformin and it has been wonderful! I know many people get unpleasant side effects, I have been lucky and had none at all. It regulated my cycles and lessened many of my PCOS symptoms!
When I have a larger cyst, it can be painful when I go to the bathroom, usually just after I empty my bladder I feel it the worst. As the cyst goes away the pain does too. I always seem to have them on one ovary or the other so my pain just goes from side to side, painful, but bearable! This could be what it is, but if it is causing a lot of pain you should check with your doctor.
