Red face Newly Diagnosed with PCOS

I'm 25 and just diagnosed with PCOS. After having my "monthly" for 2 months straight I finally went to my doctor, he performed all the blood work and this was my end result. He also advised me that this was the cause of my sudden cystic acne breakouts that occurred all over my face that after 2 months are finally starting to clear up with the nightly use of Erythromyacin Pads. In any event I am scared, paranoid and am in some weird way in denial of the situation. I dont know what to do, I dont know where to start. I have to make some changes in my life and am clueless on where to begin. So far all my doc has told me was to excersize, make better food choices and try to get on birth control to regulate my hormones. I need some guidance from someone who has real life experience with this and their success stories, so if you'd be kind enough to share, I'd love to listen.

Peace, Love & Prosperity - Kristina

I have been posting all over the place tonight. I have finally found an outlet for all of my frustrations, questions and whatever else. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago at the age of 25. I had already gained a lot of weight, had a miscarriage, and a surgery to remove a cyst. Dr's I had been seeing weren't any help and finally I went back to the OB who delivered my son, now almost 7 years old, and was diagnosed. It took us 5 years to have another baby. There are many hopeful stories and some that are frustrating. Try and stay positive and from what I have experienced diet and exercise are essential. There is no cure as of yet so whatever preventative measures that can be taken, take them. Birth control seems to be a huge factor in controlling the cysts themselves. Try to stay away from sugars, stick to a diabetic like diet...we may not all be diabetic but the insulin resistance pretty much makes it feel like we are. I went to the ER the other night for this darn cyst that is growing and my nurse was a fellow PCOS patient and it was such a relief for me to find someone that could relate to what I was going thru. Sometimes having a supportive husband or a helpful mom or sister doesn't always comfort the way we need it. Sometimes having someone that knows exactly what we are going thru is what we need. So from what I have seen on this site...keep coming back. We are all going thru this together.
