Default Newly diagnosed and ??'s (kind of long, sorry)

Hello everyone, hope this finds everyone in good spirits.

Here is a little history behind myself. My husband and I are TTC and I went off my birthcontrol in October 2005. I wasn't having periods and so I went in a couple of times, each time the doctor put me on a hormone and I started. Finally the third time I went in she did a pelivc ultra sound and re-checked my hormone levels (the first time in Jan they were ok). The ultra sound came back and my ovaries were slightly enlarged, my hormone levels were slightly out of wack. So I was diagnosed with PCOS and was precsribed metaformin. While I was waiting for my medicine to arrive by maiil order I started my period. I started taking the medication and have to go back on May 12th to re-check my hormone levels. My question is, when do I start taking my ovulation tests again? We are really hoping for baby and I don't want to miss an opportunity. Thanks everyone! I look forward to "talking" with you all on the boards, this website is wonderful!

First Welcome to The Cysters!

Most likely your doctor will want to get your cycle regulated possibly with Clomid. Clomid is an ovulation stimulating medication. Your doctor will get you going right. But from experience, get your body and hormones straightened out first then focus on getting pregnant. It won't take long to get things in order if your Doctor is a good one.

However if your cycle is somewhat regular I would wait until your next drs appointment and ask his/her advice on when to restart monthly testing etc... You could test this month if you really wanted to it's not going to hurt you and if you get pregnant now than Yippee, the Metformin will not hurt a baby.

Anyway if you have other questions let me know. I'll answer as much as I can. You can always send me a private message too.

Daziepup, thank you for your response. I am going to wait until next month to see if I am regulating any. I have to get my hormones re-checked May
12th and then we will go from there. I am just really worried about not being able to have a baby, hopefully the medicine will work! Thanks again and can't wait to "talk" with you some more.

Suzannestar and Eva 37, Thanks for the welcome. I find these boards to be very helpful! I was just recently diagnosed and was somewhat relieved and very scared at the same time. My husband and I are actively TTC #1 and this definitely puts a damper on things. Some days I am positive and others I feel like there is no hope. How long have you all been on medication and do you have children? Have you run into any "problems" TTC and if so have you seen a doctor that has recommended things for you? Thanks again for responding and hope to talk to you all a bunch more.
