I was Dx some years ago now and discovered this site about same time. I had a nightmare getting treatment at first, but now I have a fantastic doctor. I know some of you are not in the same locality, but please dont lose heart. GP's are getting the message, this is not something we have made up. Metformin and all other meds are cheap to produce (That's a fact) Dont let them get you down. They know it exists, we know it exists! NHS (& Budegt) is not the block, peoples attitudes are. Remember that when you go see your GP, We deserve better...
All of you bringing info to your GP from the internet, you may want to look for UK reseaerch as well. Dr's value others dr's. Look for universirty hospitals, that are doing research they prob not even heard of yet...No Dr wants to say bad about another UK Dr...Good Luck..Hope you all find Dr as good as mine
Here here!!!! I'm one of the lucky ones too - I have a great GP and gynae. I think women who come to SC are here because they are interested in understanding their PCOS so we are all full of knowledge. I suppose I do my bit for PCOS awareness by not being afraid to talk about it. Most of my immediate work colleagues know I have it (even the guys!) and know how it affects me. Most of my friends know I have 'fertility problems' and I tell the full story to the ones who want to know more.
Do you know what would be fab though... A great big massive PCOS awareness campaign. It's really encouraging that celeb pcoser's are being highlighted in the magazine media but I'd really love to see some more in serious health media - documentaries etc.
I read somewhere that 1 in 4 women have pcos and many, many go undiagnosed... Wouldn't it be great if numbers being diagnosed and getting on top of their PCOS increased.
the thing is instead of people jsut talking about makin others aware WE should do something! over in the states they have a petition going why havent we! i really think we shud start something instead of just talking about it xx
