If you want to know anything about it I just put a post in the "reccomended shampoos/conditioners" thread. I wrote an essay, so its a good read.
*ALSO* on Wednesday i will be doing training for Nioxin which is the best for hair loss, so if anyone has any questions about nioxin, feel free to ask me and i'll do my best to help you out.
OK look forward to hearing from you

I have been using Nioxin for about 2 years, now. Even though I am still losing my hair, it seems to have slowed down my hair loss. I do have a question. I use the shampoo (cleanser) and the "scalp therapy" conditioner, but I notice that there are other products in the Nioxin line...even vitamins to take! Should I be using these, too? Which are really necessary?
Thanks in advance for any information.
Kathryn

Hi kat,
It is great you use the shampoo & conditioner, and i would definately use the treatments, such as follicle booster. There are a few different ones which i dont know too much about just yet (4 more days till im an expert!) I do know that the treatments are for your scalp to strengthen the follicle/cuticle (the root of the hair) and prevent hair loss. In my opinion, they would be stronger than the shampoo's & conditioners, because generally all treatments are, but you'd probably only need to use them once a week or so. So I would definately recommend using them, and i think you'll notice the hair loss slow down even more. Yes there is a whole rangeand you dont need to use every single product, but a shampoo, conditioner, treatment and i think theres also a few leave in treatments just to protect your hair from damage to style with. And thats what i would use.

I have been using Nioxin for a few months now. I am noticing that I'm getting some buildup and a little dandruff. What would you suggest doing? I don't know if it's the shampoo or conditioner that's causing this.

i have been using nioxin for almost 2 years now or is it 3. i have noticed a difference and the guy who has done my hair since 88 can tell the difference-i just go to him a couple times a year now. i live about 100 miles away and he isn't as cheap as he once was, but i trust him and he knows my hair. i am curious to hear all the wonderful info that you come back with.
? will the treatment make a difference if you haven't used it in a long time?i use the shampoo and conditioner almost daily, sometimes use a different shampoo just for a change.
? what's the story with the vitamins? what are they actually supposed to do?? do they actually work??is it something that you would buy? that's sometimes the best question to ask, if you would actually be willing to part with the amt they charge for them would you do it or only if you got your discount or for free??
just a couple questions you might ask if you think about it?? thanks.....lisa
Hey girls, Im not too sure what could be causing a reaction for those of you who mentioned that. Inkeepermommy, maybe there is an ingredient that you are allergic to? And there could be something else that will help that you wont react to or perhaps they can tell me one for sensitive scalps.... ChristinaNY, I'd reccomend using a good (professional) dandruff shampoo in between using nioxin. Perhaps once a week or so. Or if its build up, use a deep cleansing or purifying shampoo these are quite strong shampoo's.
I am sorry you are having problems with it and i will be sure to get some advice from the rep when i do the training on wednesday. There are a couple of redken products that are great for hair loss it might be worth giving them a go. Its called Vivagen theres a shampoo and a scalp treatment.
With the vitamins, well the products may be a bit different here in aus, but there is a product called Recharging Complex it contains multi vitamins to strengthen your hair making it look & feel healthier. Its apparently good for your skin and nails too. And its a caplet that you take! It would be good to take. Not sure if they do work but its a proffesional product so generally they do what they say they'll do! Also some of the treatments contain vitamins as well.
Personally, I dont know whether i'd take the vitamins, but i would be using alot of the hair products i think the more nioxin products you use the less you'd need the vitamins. Now i dont suffer from hair loss, but if i did, there would be nothing stopping me from using the nioxin range. If i've learnt one thing its that you get what you pay for. Need i say more? I know they work and even though they're expensive they're worth it. Having said that, I would probably alternate others with it to stretch it out longer! but im just cheap. I've never really had to pay full price for hair products, so its hard for me to say. OK hope that helps. I am really glad that i've found something that i can really help people with.

Well. sometimes that's true, but not always. And in the health and beauty world, it's definitely not always true. We pay an awful lot of packaging, for promotion, for dreams, and for hope.
There are lots of relatively inexpensive beauty products that do a great job, and there are a lot of incredibly expensive ones that do no better, but we feel better and more pampered when we by them.
NIoxin claims to promote a healthier scalp, and for meany people it definitely has accomplished that. It seems to be a good product for many people in that regard. It can't claim to stop hairloss, and it certainly can't make lost hair grow back. When it comes to hair loss, you have to read the fine print.

that is true starmaiden, about sometimes expensive ones do no better and some cheaper ones are good. But to me some companies are too expensive for what they are. And alot of the time its all about personal preference because not everyone is the same. What i meant though was the difference between proffesional and supermarket stuff. If i ever run out of shampoo and have to use my mum's supermarket shampoo, my hair feels crappy straight away, i cant get a comb through it! and some products wont agree with everyone. There's products we sell at my work that are ridiculously priced that i hate and some people love. people come into my work and expect to love everything and notice a difference after 1 shampoo and unfortunately it doesnt work like that. But you are right some products are priced more than they're worth, but there afre people out there who swear by them!!
Alyblu, I have the training on wednesday and i will ask them, but at this stage im not 100% sure so i'll get back to you on that one. There's probably protein in the products because it is strengthening for the hair, but it does not moisturise it only strengthens, but there is probably a magical secret ingredient to stop it falling out.
Also girls i just wanted to say, Nioxin is excellent, but it wont work for everybody, and it may not stop the hairloss completely but it should certainly help the situation. For those of you who said it makes the hair dry, i'd reccomend a really ultra moisturising treatment from a different brand to give back some moisture, or some leave in moisturiser. And like i said in another post, there are other brands that have products for thinning hair such as redken which is great too.

christinany and inkeepermommy, i asked the nioxin representitive tonight about your porblems, and basically its like this. You probably are not having reactions to the products in fact its good that you are getting dandruff spots or build up. It means that it is working!! The products are basically cleansing out the toxins and gunk that has built up in your scalp. they are releasing them and thats why they're there. its like when you use a pimple cream or dandruff shampoo, sometimes it has to get worse to get better because its pushing it out from under the skin. Does that make sense? Nioxin is so natural that you can use it on babies so it wouldnt be a reaction. Also with the build up, i would say once again that its just the gunk being cleaned out, because nioxin as with most proffesional products are water soluble so you shouldnt get a build up. Nioxin doesnt contain all the plastics that commercial products contain so they break down with shampoo.
Hope im not comfusing anyone.....
Alyblu, you asked me about the active ingredients in nioxin? Well i can give you a list of their ingredients, but the main ones are actually secret ingredients that only 1 PERSON KNOWS!!!! the reason for this is so that other companies will not copy them and they will remain one of a kind. Also some of these secret ingredients you cant buy in aus not that affects you but im in aus.
Here is a list of some of the ingredients. These are the botanical names so some of them may sound like harsh chemicals but they aren't.
Cozyme 10, Green tea extracts, Wasabi (YES), Balm mint, Silk amino acids
There were a few more but i was writing them as she was saying them and i missed a couple and i hope i spelt them right!!
Ok girls hope all that wasz helpful and made sense and i hope i haven't confused anyone.
