Exclamation Nipple discharge???

Ok, just sitting here and notice a very small amount of brown/black nipple discharge from right nipple when I sqeeze. TMI warning...but it was itching, and when I looked down that's when I noticed it. Do you think when I scratched it I just drew blood? I'm supposed to talk to my dr. soon, so I guess I'll mention it. Any opinions??

I also have a slight nipple discharge, however mine is mostly clear looking. This has been going on for me for a little over a year now. I've since found out that this is very likely caused by too much prolactin. For you, I bet you just scratched it or it's been irritated in some way. I would definitely ask your doctor about it though.

Make sure you do let your doctor know. He will probably test your prolactin levels. That is a symptom of high levels. My levels are high but I do not have the discharge. It can also cause you not to ovulate.

I have kind of a stupid question:

My daughter was born 5 years ago. I breast fed her for 6 months, and it seemed to take forever for my milk to dry up. I was still getting a little bit after a year. During this time (almost right after I stopped breast feeding) I was on depo. Well, I was doing a breast massage in the shower last night, and I noticed what looked to be colostrum starting to build up on my nipple. One of my breasts is denser than the other (more glands as oppose to skin and fat) and it was only coming out of the denser one.

Is it possible that this is just left over from when I breast fed my daughter (i.e, it didn't completely dry up)? What else could it be and why is it only happening to the one breast?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do get your prolactin level checked.....a high prolactin can cause nipple discharge....
