Default Nipple discharge after miscarriage... UGH

It seems like it never ends!

Last night, I noticed a tiny little wet spot on my t-shirt over my breast. I had never had anything like that before but I didn't think too much of it.

Well, it was back this morning. So, I examined my nipple, and in the squeezing that occured from that, there was a clearish liquid that came out.

Freaked out, I called the nurse, who assured me that it's normal, my body is just still all wacked out with pregnancy hormones.

I got off the phone with her ASAP because I'm ready for another emotional meltdown. I want this to be OVER.

Anyway, has anyone else had this? How long did it last? UGH

Sorry if I sound like I'm whining. I am. I'm just at the absolute end of my rope.

Bekki I had this after my first miscarriage. I don't really remember how long it lasted but I don't think it was long. You poor thing your body has been through so much...I hope this is all over soon. Has your bleeding stopped?

Yes, the bleeding has stopped for the most part. Every now and then (once a day or so) I have a little gush, but then it goes back to barely-even-there spotting.

I ended up calling my mom and I did have a complete major meltdown. This really isn't such a big deal, but my camel's back simply couldn't handle another straw. I had a good, long cry and I feel much better now.

I'm so sorry.

With my last loss, I experienced this for about 3 weeks. In fact my milk fully came in and I was very engorged. I was told I could use cold compresses to make it go away, but I didn't want it to end-sad right?

I was shocked as well, I couldn't believe my body did that to me.

ouozogirl - Your milk came in after an 8 week loss?! OMG I really hope that doesn't happen to me. I'm going to ask the doctor tomorrow what other lovely little tidbits I have to look forward to.

This sucks. Soooo much.

Oh my... I didn't know this could happen with a miscarriage so barely out of the first trimester! I am so sorry, this is just one more rotten thing to deal with.

I have not had this problem since my losses have all been way too early so I have no idea how long it will last and no advice for it... but you PROBABLY want to avoid the urge to keep checking and seeing if it's still there... you may want to wear a very binding sports bra type bra for now... no nipple stimulation if you and DH are up to doing the deed (I know we're sure not doing any deeds around here...)... if you get swelling, put cabbage leaves in your bra... these are just some things you do when you are weaning a baby and want your milk to dry up... I'd think they'd apply here, too.

I hope it goes away soon!!!

I didn't have the discharge, but after the painful breasts had gone away (I had a missed miscarriage, so things had stopped developing for close to three weeks and my symptoms subsided), when I had the D&C, for two-three days or so my breasts hurt again and got big. I realized that my stupid body just knew that it wasn't pregnant any more and thought it gave birth and needed to feed a baby. Kind of set me on edge, and even the BF, who's been quite stoic about the whole thing looked kind of shocked when I told him and said "Jeez, how much suckier can this get?"

Sorry you're going through this too.

Yeah, I'm a strange one aren't I?

It didn't happen until about a week after my second D&C. I'm guessing that actually made my levels fall enough to start milk production. My RE tested my prolactin level and it was elevated. By the time I had my second D&C I would have been just over 11w. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not, but I was shocked.

It kept flowing for 3 weeks and then just stopped.

ouzogirl- I was completely engorged after Eric. I didn't want it to end either. Its not that weird.

Bekki- Jeez, I hope this is over for you, and I hope your doctor can give you some answers.
Cabbage leaves and a tight bra will help. I took a shower with a bra on, and took it off when I was done and put another one on right away. The other thing that helps is time.

Here are some herbal remedies that help decrease milk production. I am very sorry about your loss.
