Nizoral / Ketoconazole
Ketoconazole is currently used as an antifungal agent in the treatment of fungal infections and dandruff. Oral ketoconazole is known to have anti-androgenic effects by reducing the production of testosterone and other androgens. Ketoconazole has also been shown to decrease DHT levels when applied topically. Ketoconazole shampoo is available both with and without a prescription. Prescription Nizoral shampoo contains 2% ketoconazole and is often prescribed for the treatment of fungal infections of the scalp and sebbhoreic dermatitis. Non-prescription Nizoral A-D shampoo contains 1% ketoconazole.

I'm currently using Nozoral 1% over the counter. But I do have a prescription for the 2%, but my co=pay is $ 30.00 ! should get get the 2% or just keep using the 1%? Does it matter ?

I use Nizoral otc for my dandruff that is terriable in the summer and only on the part around my face? Weird huh! I have noticed a thicker hair shaft not sure about any new growth. I know it smells nicer than TGel! LOL!
I have used nizoral for a few years for my psoriasis on my scalp and neck. I haven't noticed any new hair growth, but have noticed my hair shaft is thicker. It helps with itching and keeps my flare ups knocked down somewhat. I've never heard it was good for hair growth, tho...
