Hi Ladies
Mind if i join in, i have suffered from oily hair all my life, now with the PCOS, i find if i don't wash my hair everyday the days that i don't wash it, my hair is oily and you can see my scalp at the top where the hairline is, i also have thryoid disease so that may be thinning my hair.

Anyways my question is, can that Dandruff Shampoo Nizoral be used on oily hair, and on the bottle it says 1-2 times a week intially and than to taper off, so do i just use it once a week??? isn't it too much to be using it everyday or every other day, i know its got some pretty harsh chemicals in it?

Also Dr. Weil suggest trying 500 mg of primoise oil taking that twice a day maybe help with thinning hair.

Thanks

You might want to ask your dermatologist this.

Another shampoo option is Nioxin. I used to use it every day with no problems.

Hi Kat
Do you know if nioxcin is okay to use, if you are TTC ??

I have a dermotogist appt in January regarding some white skin patches showing up around my neck area, i think it is Vitalgo but it hasnt been confirmed yet, so while i am there i will ask her about my thinning hair and if she can suggest something.

Take care

I don't know. Best to ask your doc.

Here's the Nioxin website: http://www.nioxin.com/go/products/thinning-hair-systems

Default If just starting out..which would be the best to start with?

Nicozoril from the store, or Nioxin, or murad.

What about some of the other kinds...like Folicure or something like that Sally Beauty supply carrys. Or Progaine? Rogaine?

I am using NISIM and I really like it. It has seemed to help with the shedding. I have less shedding now but my testosterone is also much lower now. So it could be a result of both. It also looks like I have some regrowth. I have been using it since late October/early November. I used Nioxin for a while but my shedding was still bad.

I also like NISIM for how it makes my hair look and feel.

I have not tried Murad.

Sunnier - from what I have heard (and I have not used Nizoral so I do not know how it is) but you want to wash your hair every day because you do not want the DHT to build up on your scalp. HTH.

my hair loss is not severe .. i am just using as more of a preventative measure.

I have very thin hair at the top of my scalp and saw the Nizoral 1% in the store, but didn't buy it. Lush has a solid shampoo called New that is supposed to cause hair to regrow. It has natural cinnamon in it to regrow hair.
Lets keep comparing notes! I need my hair!!

if you're concerned i would try something that is proven to work for prevention of further hairloss, like nizoral. maybe use that and alternate it with the lush shampoo??

Hi everone,

I have been using Nizoral 1% for 1 month and am wondering how often I should use it I have only been using it twice a week, so should I be using it everday to see results?

I was also wondering if anyone has tryed Rogaine and if they have had any results?

CysterAmy is telling the truth! Nioxin is wonderful stuff nothing will beat it! I use to work in a salon and we sold Nioxin. I watched ladies come in there the 1st time with heads of hair that would scare you! Some were thin and some were super thin (able to see the scalp thin) and what they had was in terrible shape, dry and brittle just terrible shape. They would start Nioxin and within 9 month they were hard to recognize! The Nioxin had changed their hair that much. Their hair was thicker and in much better shape. So, I tried some myself, and had wonderful results! I keep Nioxin on hand all the time now, and when my hair starts looking thin I will start using it and within just a month or 2 my hair is back to normal! It is wonderful stuff ladies and worth every penny!!!

I started using Nioxin (stage 2) a few weeks ago. I see some thinckening of my hair, not as easy to see my scalp when the wind blows or sun shines on it, but it didn't seem to affect the shower shedding. I just began to alternate it every other day with Nizoral 1%, and WOW!! My shower drain is almost CLEAR!!!!!! Seriously! From the second time I used Nizoral, I have seen a dramatic decrease in shedding. I'm keeping my fingers crossed . . . I am also on 200mg of Spiro and 1000mg Met, which I'm upping to 1500 after this weekend. Hopefully these shampoos continue to help. Something has to eventually, right?!
