How long to keep nizoral on for Androgenic Alopecia? Is it best to keep it on for 3-5 mins as said on bottle for dandruff treatment? Thanks!

Hi all, I had to stop using Nixoral last year when I started my migraine medication, Relpax, which specifically says not to use Nixoral or Ketoconazole in its literature. I am excited to start using Nioxin. I don't know why I haven't found this post sooner. Do you all think it is safe for me to use?
I have checked and rechecked the ingredients, but would like a second opinion. TIA!

"RELPAX should not be used within at least 72 hours of treatment with the following medications: Nixoral®, Sporanox®, Serzone®, TAO®, Biaxin®, Norvir®, and Viracept®. "

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this website, but I am thankful it is here! Anyway, I was going to ask if anyone has ever tried Nioxin? It is a shampoo that is supposed to restore the Ph of the scalp and get rid of harmful buildup.

I'm certainly not qualified to say yes or no, however I did come across this wiki entry regarding ketoconazole, which is Nizoral's active ingredient:

There has been some suggestion that ketoconazole could inhibit testosterone synthesis in utero, which could potentially inhibit genital development of a male fetus. However, this has not been documented in any controlled studies

Not conclusive, but probably not worth the risk IMO...

I have tried Nioxin. It only seemed to really dry my hair out.

Hey all...I was at the doctor a while ago and he said I had cradle cap...i figured it was dandruff, but w/e...anyway, he prescribed Nizoral. But I was wondering if it will be good for my hair as well as my scalp??

All my life I've had really thick hair, but it's slowly thinned way out. I figured it was just puberty or something, but since being on this board, I've begun to wonder if it's from the Metformin!! Looking back, it started to thin out around the time I started the Met...I am terrified that all my hair is going to fall out. Will the Nizoral help it become thick again like it used to be? Is there anything I can do to make my hair thick again?? It was such a pain back then when it was so thick, but now I want it back!! Please someone tell me that I won't go bald or anything like that! My doctor never told me anything would affect my hair! :upset:

Nizoral hasn't helped me one bit. I have tried everything from Rogaine to a hair loss medication that they have in Germany. I recently went to the dermatologist again and he said since Rogaine and nothing else has helped me yet, nothing will help. I have been wearing wigs for a few months now.

My husband was using Nioxin and therfore I tried it for awhile, but I didn't see any results. I am new on here and tried reading as many posts as I could, but never saw exactly how long you should use it to see results? Or does it just vary from person to person. FYI my husband never saw results. It did help his head not stay so oily. Which to him was well worth it.

Question

Can you use Nizoral if you are trying to get pregnant? I guess, from what I have read, its use is not recommended during PG..

When using Nizoral, what conditioner would anyone suggest using along with the shampoo?

I use it for my scalp too, although I have Seborrheic Dermatitis (flaking and scaling of the skin, scalp, eyebrows, ears) bad and need to keep on top of it at least once a week. In my opinion, Selsun Blue works just as well and isn't that expensive. But I don't have a hair thinning issue. I just have hair everywhere else!

Cool Please Help Me...

hello all

i'm new to this site i've been diagnosed with pcos since march 2007 and i'm am having a difficult time dealing with my hair loss it's mostly from the top of the head i.e. male pattern hair loss and it's been thinning for about a year and a half now

i went to the dermatologist on the november 12 and he suggested rogaine and that's the only thing that will help and not to believe in any miracle kind of hair regimens but from reading the posts i'm not so sure about the rogaine because on someones post they had wrote it causes hair growth on the face

i bought nizoral 1% yesterday but have not tried it yet now i'm thinking of also bying the niozin since most of you have posted good results about it
i just wanted to know how should i use these products and do they have any effect on our hormones

any help will be appreciated thanks in advance
