[quote=LepHysteria;1888758727]I use it for my scalp too, although I have Seborrheic Dermatitis (flaking and scaling of the skin, scalp, eyebrows, ears) bad and need to keep on top of it at least once a week. In my opinion, Selsun Blue works just as well and isn't that expensive. But I don't have a hair thinning issue. I just have hair everywhere else! [/quote

Hi...do find that Nizoral helps with hair loss?...i have been losing alot of hair and wondering what can help it from not falling anymore...

If it shows no improvement after a couple months then I may try the Nioxin.
I had good results when I was on Metformin and using a shampoo called Nisim as well.
Hopefully when I get back on the Met. in a couple of weeks I will begin seeing faster results.
Meantime...if anyone hears of anything that may help....PLEASE let me know!!

I also like NISIM for how it makes my hair look and feel.

I have not tried Murad.

Sunnier - from what I have heard (and I have not used Nizoral so I do not know how it is) but you want to wash your hair every day because you do not want the DHT to build up on your scalp. HTH.
hey leigh....i purchased the Nisim products because i have been losing chucks of hair especially when I shower....but I haven't started using the nisim yet because of fear of losing more hair...when you started using Nisim did hair fall out a lot first before it stopped...i am afraid to lose anymore hair...just been sooo sad about this...i have been using nizoral...let me know...thanks.

It gradually lessened over time. If I remember correctly, my hair started coming out less in the shower within a week.

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to say that I am using Nizoral 1% (I got it at Rite-Aid) and I am already seeing less shedding (this is my first week) and, for the first time in years, my hair is not oily! I have a haircatcher thing in the drain and I am amazed by how the shedding has reduced. The very first time I used the Nizoral, there might have been a little more shedding than usual (it's supposed to remove sebum, so maybe I had a few hairs that were stuck in "partially clogged" follicles), but since that first time, it's significantly reduced. My hair is much less flat (because it's less oily), but my hair does not feel dry (I follow the shampoo with a light conditioner on the ends only). I have used Murad, which did a good job of removing the oil, but my hair would be oily by the end of the day. It also smelled really weird to me.

I have been using Nizorol for about 2 years and still have very thinning hair. It hasnt helped me at all in that way. I use it for scaly, flaky scalp.

Don't feel bad. Some of us have it worse than others and NOTHING will work. I started off with Nioxin ... then went with men's strength Rogaine for 3 years, etc. And although alot of the shampoos that reduce the amount of DHT on your scalp can help stop further loss, it is very unlikely that you will get regrowth.

Rogaine did nothing for me either except stop the excessive hair loss that I would experience in the shower. Other than that, I did not get the regrowth that some people ranted and raved about. After spending so much money on Rogaine for 3 years, I pretty much just gave up and bought myself a nice wig.

I have pretty much decided that I am going to be getting a hair transplant in the future. I've got one more thing that I want to try out first and if that does NOT work, the hair transplant is my only other option left because I am investing far too much money in wigs. Plus, I wanna go swimming and do normal activities that I can't do with a wig on.

Anyhow, I have found a great forum and get lost of support there. It's a hair transplant forum but they also have a hair loss forum filled with tons of information. Lots of people there going through the same thing with this stupid hair loss. I recommend some of you go there for your hair loss questions because you will get an honest and educated opinion.

You can even find other treatment options available, etc. This forum is very informational and an eye-opener .. at least it is for me. I no longer go around getting my hopes up with fad hair loss products that don't work, etc.

lena,

i think the nioxin webpage has a "quiz" you can take to figure out which products to get. personally, i took the quiz and it gave me "system 2" which is for people with visibly thin/thinning hair who do not color or perm their hair. there is another system for people with untreated hair that is not thinning, other lines for people with nonthinning untreated coarse hair, thinning treated hair, and so forth. try the quiz!
