Default no AF for 2 years

Has anyone had any success with bringing on AF after an extended period of time without it? It has been almost 2 years since I had my last period. I don't have insurance, so I can't go to the doctor and to be honest I'd much rather go the natural route if at all possible. I've tried NPC, vitex, black cohosh, B vitamins, chromium, and some other things that I can't think of right now. I didn't take all of this at the same time, it's just a list of various natural remedies I've tried over the past couple of years. I don't know if there's anything else that might help. I'm getting really concerned because I know the lining isn't shedding and that increases my risk of cancer. Please let me know if you've ever gone this long without AF, and if so, how you corrected it. Thanks in advance.

I've not been in your situation, but can you call your Dr. and have them phone in a Rx for provera for you - the drug itself is very cheap. Alternatively, maybe go to planned parenthood for a Rx of provera or failing that, BCPs for a month or two.

Hi,

I think you should try to go to a health department or planned parenthood or whatever the free clinics near you might be called and ask for an rx for Prometrium, they may be able to give you samples if you tell them you can't afford the rx. Prometrium basically does the same thing as provera, they are both progesterone, the difference is that the provera is synthetic progesterone, and the Prometrium is natural progesterone but I think it is stronger than the NPC from the stores (rx strength obviously). Usually you take 200 mg twice a day for 10 days and then about a week or less after you end them AF should start. I hope that helps. You could maybe check on Medmex.com and see if they sell it, I don't think you need an rx (I'm not sure though) but it might be a lot cheaper on there. HTH...good luck hon, I really hope you can get to a doctor though you do need a visit from the old hag! (AF)

Thanks for the replies. I was on BCPs for years, and I really don't want to go that route again. They eventually stopped working for me anyway, and I had side effects from them.
I would like to try Prometrium. Planned Parenthood in my area is not free if you don't have insurance. They told me one visit would cost about $60, and I just can't afford that. For some reason I'm not able to connect to that Medmex website, so I'm going to see if I can find another site that sells it. I'm just hesitant to order meds over the internet because I don't know if I'm actually getting the right thing. So if anyone has had success with specific sites, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Try Flaxseed Oil. Like you, I was lucky if I got AF once a year. I find with a couple of tablespoons a day AF comes about every 6 - 8 weeks now. I'm still trying to work out exactly how much my body needs as the last AF lasted 5 weeks!!!! Maybe 2 tblsps is a bit too much. Anyway, give it a go - it may take a few weeks for anything to happen, but let us know if it does!

Best of luck.
