I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem...or any advice. My AF before BCP was always irregular...but came every month. One cycle would be 35 days, the next 40 days, then 30 days....there was no way to really track it. I just know I never missed. I went on BCP 3 1/2 years ago and went off them in Oct '08 so I can get my body ready for TTC. I got my AF in Nov & Dec (they were light) but then it stopped. In March my dr. gave me provera which brought on my AF (it was light). Since then (it's been about 70 days) nothing! I have no idea what's going on. I do feel slight cramps here and there, but no AF . So frustrating. My DH and I are actively TTC.... but have been continually getting a BFN. Just wondering what I should do next. I have been taking Femaprin for a month, flax seed oil and prenatals since the fall. I follow a Low carb diet for the most part. Any suggestions?

The problem is that when your body detects the extra estrogen in your system from the BCP it often shuts down your own natural production of estrogen. Doesn't make much difference overall as long as you're on the BCP, but when you come off the BCP your body doesn't necessarily start up your natural estrogen production at once -- or sometimes at all. One reason I was very reluctant to go on BCP even though it might have reduced my male-type facial hair considerably -- my periods weren't regular or as frequent as most women's, but at least they were coming naturally.
I'm having the same problem except that I am not TTC at the moment. I went off of Alesse in July 2008 because I hated the way it made me feel and I have not had a period since the end of July.

I haven't had my period since January and that was brought on by Prometrium. So this month trying Apri (but now it's called Eclipsen or something) to bring on my period. I hope it works. I really miss my AF!!! I am TTC but not luck to even bring on AF. I have lost 50 lbs too!! but i am on a special diet that the doctor told me I might not even have an AF during this diet!!
I had the same problem last year. I went off BCP while we were TTC. As soon as I went off them, nothing! We could not start fertility treatment until I got AF. After several months, my doctor put me on prometrium or provera (i tried both). That did not do anything. She then put me on 4 mg estradiol with the provera. All the rounds of provera did not work. The only thing that happened was I gained 20 pounds from the hormones. Finally, I had an u/s and the doctor saw that my lining was still thin despite being on the provera. She then gave me clomid to make me O. After that, I got AF. After three rounds of the clomid, we got good news (BFP),
