I finally got my dr to check my blood sugar. The same dr who doesn't believe my PCOS dx. Anyway, They called today it's 107. So he said to watch my diet. Can you say give me metaformin you moron.!! Well, I go to the endo this week on Thursday. so I will see what he says because my regular PCP doesn't want to see me untill the endo decides he doesn't want to see me any more. Which I guess is fine. I am so frustrated. I think after my final surgeon appt in Nov i will try changing Dr's to one on Santa Barbara. I'm thinking it may be worth the drive. I'm trying Cinnamon but it doesn't seem to help. I aven't had AF in 13 monthes. I refuse to give up Bread. Any suggestions?

That sucks your doctor didn't want to try met. Hopefully the endo will have more answers, and possibly a prescription. In the meantime, is there any way you can switch to whole grain bread and also cut back a little? I'm not IR but I've decided to follow a similar diet, and it seems to be helping... I never thought I could give up bread either, but you'd be suprised at what you can do if you realize your health and well being are starting to depend on it.

I'm confused! A fasting glucose level of 107 is still in the normal limits. the normal range for a fasting glucose is 70-110. True your's is on the upper end, but it's still normal. I work in a lab and there's nothing wrong with that number. It's when it's above 110 that you should be concerned.
A level of 111-125 indicates glucose intolerance/insulin resistance, and since your level is below that, that's probably why your Dr didn't put you on Met.

normal ranges may vary a little, but they don't usually vary by the state you live in. Your glucose level is probably fine. I would have it repeated if you have any question about it.

maybe you got confused about which number he was giving you? My Dr told me my fasting blood sugar was fine, but that my 'something' was 106, so I'm insulin resistant. I wrote it down, but I left work so upset that I didn't bring it home so since that number was close to yours, maybe it was the same thing with you? My Dr said I'm insulin resistant but it hasn't affected my blood sugar yet (whatever that means, I'm still researching)
