I used to be an assistant manager at McDonalds ours was not a corporate McDonalds. Insurance is only available to Managers (swing, shift, assistant, and Gen Managers), the premium is outragous, you had to wait until October to sign up and only if there were any slots open.

I knew of a few people who worked at McD's and did not get any health benefits. I think it is because they are independently owned???

As far as different health insurance companies (Aetna, UHC, etc) covering different treatments, unless you live in a mandated state, your specific coverage is based on what your employer wants/chooses when they pick the plan. For example, I have UHC through DH's employer and it covers diagnosis of infertility but no treatment. I have heard of others who have UHC (but through a different employer) that covers some of the actual treatments. Another may have UHC and live in a mandated state where they have to cover it by law.

Basically, a lot of employers go with whatever is going to be cheapest for them, which is usually no fertility treatment coverage, unless they legally have to have it because they are required. That is what makes it so confusing to many people. On one hand it seems as if everyone with Aetna insurance should have the same coverage regardless of where you live, work, etc., but the reality is that your employer decides what is or isn't covered when they purchase the plan.

Hmmm....Maybe Home Depot as a part time job for the insurance. I get so hot all the time, I don't think I could work at McDonalds, but Home Depot always seems to be hot too. I was joking the other night at Wal Mart to DF that I was going to work in the coolers (the people that stock the dairy & push milk forward and scare the crap out of you when you go to grab something and there is a hand coming toward you). He said I would still complain that I am hot. I think he is right.
