Default No Laser Hair Removal on NHS

Hi, my name is Jules. I am not a sufferer of PCOS but my wonderful daughter Lauren is. She is 22 and was diagnosed 4 years ago. Over the past 2 years she has become distressingly more hairy all over and suffered weight gain. This has resulted in low self esteem and sometimes self harming. This is distressing for myself and my other daughter Sian, but especially for Lauren.
Today she has been to the local hospital, supposedly to see a SPECIALIST in PCOS but saw one of his underlings, who was neither use nor ornament. She went in the hope of seeing if she could get laser hair removal on the NHS but was told they dont do it anywhere in the country. Does anyone know if this is true?
She has been told to lose at least 2 stone in weight (easier said than done) and to keep on the Dianette.
As a full time student at university, with only myself and her sister to help with living expenses, there is no chance of affording private treatment.
If any of you lovely people have any advice for us we would be grateful.

I set up a petition on Number 10 Petition site asking about NHS Laser treatment and if anyone would like to sign it I would again be grateful.
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/PCOStreatment/

Many thanks for reading this and my best wishes to you all.

hi, i have heard one or two cases of ladies getting laser on the nhs, but i think its very hard to get your doctor to take notice. my doctor was quite unsympathetic about the hair issue saying that she had many patients who had to shave their face every day and that its no big deal and that theres plenty hair removal products on the market and i just had to figure out the best products for me, yeah right any sort of removal i try makes things a whole lot worse and it totally destroys your confidance.
im currently having fertilty treatment but hoping to have laser hair removal once i have a baby, ive heard a company called aculight have a 50 per cent discount for pcos ladies if they have a letter from gp confirming this, i havent looked into this yet so dont know if its any good or not, but ive also seen discounts on other internet sites eg spa centres, you could do a google search for laser in your area and see what comes up
