My doc cleared us for sex and it's been fine until tonight. Tonight I felt my partner bump against my cervix (my butt scooted across the bed faster than anything!) and about 30 seconds later I felt something hot and I knew it was blood. Sure enough it was and a lot. I have a slight burning/cramping about 2 inches below my bellybutton. And there were a few tiny tiny clots when my partner pulled out.

I am not going to the ER because we cannot afford it (I am not a landed immigrant in Canada yet so we pay everything out of pocket).

I really need some reassurance right now that I am not going to miscarry from a bump to the cervix.

This is so frustrating because everything has been going really well the past couple of weeks!

Ok, well about 30 mins later I only have about a quarter sized amount of blood in my pad. It seems to have stopped. I still have that slight burning sensation though.

I had something similar at the beginning of this pregnancy....it could just be that your cervix was really sensitive this time. Definitely call the doctor in the morning just in case. I think as long as it has pretty much stopped you should be okay. Ill cross my fingers for you.

First *hugs*

Second, if the bleeding has slowed down/disappeared, then my guess is that the bump just irritated your cervix. Remember, it's still super-sensitive and you'd probably wind up with spotting from an internal and that's pretty 'gentle' in comparison to a bump in midst of sex.

If you can, just take it easy for part of the day and if the bleeding hasn't stopped or returned, definitely at least call your doctor and see what they have to say.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Having sex won't cause a miscarriage but if there is a miscarriage that is inevitable (ie not a viable pregnancy) it might help get things started.

I had bleeding at weeks 5, 9, 13, 17, and 21. The bleeding at weeks 5 and 9 were right after sex....my doctor told me that if I was really worried to stop having sex.

Each time it was red with clots. If you look at the timing, though, it was actually every 4 weeks--like I was still having a period the whole time.

I'd say it was irritated cervix, though. If you don't stop bleeding, then call the doctor. I know that they did an ultrasound every time for me to make sure it wasn't an incorrectly attached placenta.

Try not to worry - bleeding aftert is SO SO SO common and like the PP said, there is no way sex can cause a miscarriage (miscarriages that do happen to occur after sex were inevitable to begin with, like the PP said).

I have had bleeding after sex before too as well as after an internal exam, and my doctor said I was fine. I would definitely call your doctor in the morning just to make sure but try not to worry!!

The best thing you can possibly do is to NOT have sex for a while. Just abstain from it. Let your cervix heal and do what its supposed to do. We waited til I was in the second trimester for this reason. I had a m/c my first pregnancy and only bled after after sex.. so believe me this time I refused to have sex just because of my past experiance. Just seeing blood anytime during pregnancy will more than likely freak you out. Just avoiding it for awhile to stay away from the stress is best.

I informed my bf that I am taking us off sex again until the T2.

The bleeding is slowing and darkening and I have no cramps.

Sadly, my doc is not in on Wednesdays. I am just going to chill out all day.

Yeah I told Darth Penis we are going to have to find different activities.

I am spotting but its darkening in color and coagulating so I think its going to be ok (I pray). I called my doctors office and left a message for her.

When I got my pap, the nurse mentioned that the cervix at this point is full of engorged blood vessels which break easily and can bleed like crazy. Sure enough, the pap made me bleed, and that's never happened before. I'm sure that this is what happened to you too.

I don't think there are any actual cases of a miscarriage being brought on by normal vaginal intercourse - they usually only suggest that women don't do it because it can cause bleeding and then you don't know whether it's sex-bleeding or miscarriage-bleeding. But I think it's completely okay to abstain from vaginal sex for a while, if only to calm your fears.

Good luck!
