Default No period

Hi all, I've been lurking for a post but I'm new to posting. I am a nurse but I take care of babies, lol, and I am still learning about PCOS.

I have always had fairly regular but light periods, and I have now been on Yasmin for about 4-5 years (since being diagnosed). But within the last several months I've stopped having a period altogether. They started becoming "lighter" within the last year or so but now they have stopped. I casually mentioned to my doctor the last time I was there, that I hadn't had a period in a 'couple of months' (BTW he's a general practitioner who is fairly knowledgable when it comes to PCOS...I'm still looking for an endo or gyno in my area who knows more). Actually, I didn't think much about it because I'd heard so much about women with PCOS not having their periods; I thought it was a little odd that I'd always had one and it was fairly regular, even though I have PCOS. But now that I think about it more and more--I shouldn't stop menstruating while on the Yasmin, right??

Anyone else experience this? Any advice (other than finding another doctor, LOL)? Thanks!

I don't know anything about yasmin, sorry IslaRN76, but I wish you luck...

I am on Met and mine went from being 7 days long and very heavy for 3 days to 4 days long and only 1 very very very heavy day and spotting two days...I am so glad!!! Hopefully it will get lighter on that one heavy day the longer I take met (I've only been on it for almost a month)....

I am sure someone here will be able to answer your question and give some advice...Good luck..

Welcome to SoulCysters IslaRN!

I used to skip periods for a few months, then I would get a period and it would be very heavy and last for a month or two. Before I was diagnosed I was put on bcp and that helped me have a period every month, but it was still really really heavy. After I finally got diagnosed I was put on met and that helped even more, so I was having a period only once a month and it wasn't super heavy. My period is still heavy sometimes, but it doesn't last for weeks and weeks.

Hope someone can answer your question better than I could!
Best wishes
Jenny
