I am trying to figure out why in the world I was on bc pills for about 8 months and then developed high blood pressure and then i was taken off the bc pills. I then started back on metformin 2 times a day. My periods were coming every other month. Now before I went on the bc pills I ended up miscarrying at approx 6 weeks. So anyhoo, in February which would have been my every other month, I got no period so the dr put me on metformin 3 times a day and I have been on that dosage for a month, but no period still. I am so scared because I know I have to get my period in order to ovulate and if I don't ovulate, then there won't be a baby in my future and I really want one so bad is depressing me. Everyone else around me seems to be having them and really not wanting them in the first place....but I just keep hoping and praying that my luck will change here soon as well. I am having a tough time because the child I lost would have been a year old this month. I just want a second chance and one that will take to the point that I will be able to hold the little bundle of joy. I only want my turn to be a mommy. I just keep losing hope and faith in the odds though. I keep wondering if losing weight would increase my odds of my periods becoming somewhat normal and then ultimately being able to carry a child?
__________________ I am 31 and I was happily married in February 2004. I ended up pregnant in June 2004. I ended up miscarrying in July. I then went on birth control pills to try and not get pregnant right away again. I came off of birth control pills in May 2005. I have had PCOS for several years. I have now been trying for a few months but nothing. I was on metphormin 2 times a day and all of a sudden stopped having periods. I am now on metphormin 3 times a day and have been for like a month and still no period.
I'm so sorry about your lose.
I got my first period EVER just last year when I was 18 and that was after I lost weight on diabetic diet pills and actos. Actos is suppose to regulate the menstral cycle, I hope this helps some.
My doctor told me that you can still become pregnant without a menstrual cycle. Somehow ovulation takes place in some cases. How is your stress level? Diet? Exercise? I know how you feel it took forever for mine to come. I had surgery, they put me provera and some other drugs alike and to no avail. My doc put me on BC and again nothing. She sent me to an endocrinologists because she said she couldn't do anything else for me. Finally my gyn/endo diagnosed me with PCOS and prescribed metformin but even being on this it took a good 5 to 6 months for it come down. The whole process was rough and it took a year and some months to make its appearance. I was elated when it finally came. My family thought I was crazy because I was dancing and singing, LOL. People don't truly understand until they're in your shoes. Anyway have them run some tests on you to make sure you're ovaries are okay because I had a tumor the size of an orange which was somewhat the reason why I had no cycle. Anyway have your doctor run some tests to make sure your ovaries are okay. My doc told me to start BC because this will help regulate my cycle. She prescribed yasmin. I hope this helps.

I got my first period when I was about 15, then nothing for a while. I would have anywhere from 1-3 a year and there was never any pattern to them. When I was 18 I got married and started BC pills. While on the pill my period was very normal, but as soon as I got off I would go back to nothing. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 20 and have been on Metformin for a little over a month. Hopefully this will regulate my period.

Losing weight will definitely help with regulating your periods and spurring on ovulation. There are also meds that you can take to help you Ovulate. A popular one is called Clomid. If you cannot conceive talk to you Dr. about it. There are other options if the Met is not working.
