Angry No period with Provera after D&C

Hi Ladies -

Hoping someone can shed some light on something for me. Ok, here goes....I suffered a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks and had a D&C on July 23rd. Since then, I have not had a period and am anxious to get going with the TTC again. My RE put me on Provera to bring on a period and I took that for 5 days with the last pill taken 6 days ago.

Typically, my period arrives 2 days after the last Provera pill. This time, on day 2 I had some pinkish-red bleeding (not enough to warrant a tampon) and mild cramping. For the next two days, I had dark brown spotting throughout the day and now nothing. Was that a period??? I've never had problems with Provera before but maybe things have changed since my D&C?

Anyone have an insight for me on this? I'm afraid my RE is going to make me wait another few weeks and then do Provera again. It's been a long road since the D&C and I'm just so darn anxious to get going again!

Thanks

Erin

Erin,
I'm sorry to hear about your loss and the weeks that seem to drag on afterward. I know the angst to get the ttc ball rolling again, believe me. Unfortunately, I think your body is sending you a signal that it needs some more time to reset. A D&C might have really wiped out your endometrium, and it just didn't build up with the short course of provera. I think you should start a chart with the first day of spotting as day 1, and see if anything happens over the next few weeks. It's possible that you needed either more provera or more time to respond to it. These events are a big deal to our bodies as well as our heartstrings, and most of the time we need both to settle a while before we can conceive again.

I'm sorry that my answer isn't what any of us want, but I would assume based on lots of cases that it is good to be patient a while longer.

Lots of ((Hugs))
Sheri

I'm sorry about your loss. I know that after my D&C, it took a long time for AF to return to "normal". It actually is very much lighter than it was pre-D&C. I really think your lining needs to build up more before AF will arrive.

Good Luck!
Traci
