This may sound weird, but I am not hungry AT ALL on Met, EVER, no matter how little I eat, and it's becoming a bit of a problem.
I only eat because I know it's about time, or I should. I have no hunger cues any more. Sometimes I pig out because I am really hanging out for a certain food (which probably counteracts all the other times I am not eating much at all), but I could honestly go all day without eating. If it wasn't for the crankiness and low blood sugar symptoms.
Problem is, I barely eat all day and come mid-late afternoon start to crave sugar and carbs. I'll then eat something 'bad' and not be remotely hungry at dinner time. So will either force some dinner down or call the junk food a meal.
I seem to have just lost the hungry signal altogether - as well as my usual obsession with real balanced meals (have always been a stickler for a proper dinner at night and always really enjoyed it). Am also a bit concerned that I am eating so weirdly...and am starting to feel tired, which I am sure is a result of the bad eating.
What to do?
I guess I could set myself a schedule of decent and regular eating and just be disciplined about sticking to it?

I've been on Met since April, I think, and I've still no appetite. In the same way that you pig out, I visit the kitchen. In 2004, way before I was diagnosed with PCOS (and a few months before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism), I would visit the kitchen, eat anything because I was so hungry. Now, three years later, I still visit the same kitchen but I don't eat anything. Well, until it's time, like you said, to eat with the meds.
How long have you been on Met anyway? If you've been on it for a long time, maybe you should ask your doc. S/He'd know, I hope, what to do...

I have that too with Met. I don't tend to eat a real breakfast - but never really have. The only time I am hungry is lunch time. Dinner I eat because I am supposed to. The thing is I love food, which explains how i became overweight! LOL. I think with lunch the only reason I know I'm hungry is because I get that low blood sugar feeling. I bet I could drink an orange juice & not even eat & be better, but I'm not about to do that. This "fat girl" has got to eat some time!

When I first started Metformin, the thought of food gave me the gag reflex. I've been on it for about 4 months now, and I have a normal appetite now. Before the met, it was too much appetite. It makes it much easier for me to stick with a diet now, or to even practice normal-people-portion-control. I hope that if you guys are looking for the the same result, stick with it longer. Mine may have balanced out faster, just because I'm obsessed with food...
Also, trying to eat the same things at the same times every day helped me to train my body to be hungry and full at the times I wanted it to be. You can change the seasonings or substitute different kinds of protein or veggies to avoid boredom with those foods.
