Default No side effects until refill - I'm confused

I have been taking 1500 mg of Met since April and had no side effects at all. I have heard of the nausea, runs and gas but never experienced them. I was kind of dissapointed because I did not lose any weight either. I just got my second refill but this time the pills are a different shape, the pharmicist says they are exactly the same, and I have all the side effects. I can't figure out why this would happen and I was wondering if other people have started having side effects after many months without them.

Thanks for any replies.

Jenesse

Exclamation

I have a feeling they changed the brand on you.

There are some others here that just recently noticed their pills look different and are not working the same.

Is it possible that you were taking GlucophageXR and they switched it to the generic pills?

Also it was stated if they change manufacters it makes a difference. Double check you bottles and see if there is a printed difference.

I have only had the name brand so I'm not too familar with the generics.

Good Hunting,
Patty

If you are taking generic, it could be that they are buying from a different source. My mother swore her met was not working and then it started turning to powder in the bottle.

I have had the same thing happen. Some of my refills seem to be stronger than others. Sometimes the side effects are bad, sometimes not. Then I'll get another refill and BAM! side effects again. So far my pills have always looked the same.

Default glucophage or metformin?

i too had a similar reaction when my pharmicist changed me from glucophage (the brand name) to meformin (the generic) and boy did it suck! i am now in the process of getting it approved for me to get glucophage only. good luck and hope things get better for you!

Thumbs up Thanks so much

I really appreciate all the responses to my concerns. I know now what to look for and ask the doc. I feel better knowing that many women don't have side effects until after a few months. I will definately check my bottles to see if they are the same.

I was wondering what differences some of you noticed between Metformin and Glucophage. I have been taking Metformin. Are there benifits from taking one over the other? More or less side effects? Difference in weightloss? Just curious but would love to hear what you all have to say about it.

Thank again,
Jenesse
