hello all,
i went to the doc, and all of my lab results were normal, my u/s showed no cysts.
my doctor said that
a. my u/s is just showing that i am not ovulating, enlarged ovaries with many perpherial follicles.
but the new definition for pcos is a person who doesn't ovulate or have normal periods.
otherwise i have no other 'classical' pcos symptoms
1. not hairy
2. lean
3. no IR
i am about to try sprintec (orthocyclen) for i am not trying to conceive just as yet...
just wanted to know is there anyone else out there who only symptom is not having regular periods?
did the doc do a lh and fsh ratio, and if so what were the numbers? xox jenn

I'm in the same boat... my ultrasound showed typical PCOS ovaries, but I have no symptoms except lack of periods. I guess I should have asked my GP more about the details of my blood test results, but I was completely unprepared for the diagnosis, because I'd always thought 'hey, I can't possibly have PCOS - I don't fit the pattern!' Let's see what happens when I see a specialist... and until then, I'd better do some research! Good luck with your treatment... give us an update later!
sorry it took me awhile to get my lab results, wanted to know if you could help me figure out my ratio
my LH is 16.8
fsh 7.9hemoblobin A1c (fasting glucose) was normal 5.2
progesterone 0.6 normal
tryglycercides were low 28 (but only by 2 points)
testosteone was high 103
estradiol 95 normal
and the only symptoms that i have is a period about 4 times a year, and many follicles on my ultrasound
your lh and fsh ration are a little over 2:1 which indicates pcos... it should be one to one ratio...so you gotta tell your doc thats not normal... just that and the testosterone alone strongly indicate pcos... i really hope if this doc doesnt help you..that you find another one so you can start treatment ..so glad you posted the results xoxo jenn

Your case sounds very much like pcos...you have high testosterone and LH levels and don't ovulate which is basically what pcos is. The other symptoms like the IR and weight problems occur in only about half of women with pcos. Hirsutism is more common because of hyperandrogenism...but depends on how sensitive your testosterone receptors are and how your body responses. If you want to have children than pcos will probably interfer, but otherwise you're lucky not to have the more classic symptoms!!
well. when i was younger i used to get very painful periods, so painful i would almost pass out. within the last 5 years my periods stopped coming, i would go 60 days w/out one.
then i was shocked when i didnt get one for over a year.
i was diagnosed with pcos, something about some hormone being too low and that weight loss would help me to become preggo. then i had to have neck surgery so that blew my weightloss idea out of the water.
Thanks for responding. If you dont mind me asking what is the difference of your weight now from when you got pregnant the first time. Have you ever taken birthcontrol after your first child?

thanks! Do you think weigh has to do with you not getting af, my situation is the same, when i was skinner (131 lbs) i had normal af, now that i gained now 238lbs they stopped. Man, i need to get working out. I personally think weight is a major factor if your body is not use to it.
I just have to get the determination to workout on a regualr basis and to eat right.
